TMPGEnc: Converting old MPG to KVCD
I have a bunch of mpg files (352x240, 29.97fps) that I want to convert into KVCD, but I want to keep the frame rate and resolution. What's the best way to go about doing that?
Thanks, Dave |

A quick high level run down: Open your mpegs with DVD2AVI and create a .d2v project and audio .wav file. Open your .d2v with FitCD ( another program found here:http://mitglied.lycos.de/fitcd/ ) and resize and select to your liking. Save the file. The default is film.avs. Then you open this .avs file with TMPEG and your wave (.wav) file that DVD2AVI created with TMPEG. Load the template you want in TMPEG and encode!. You'll find specific information on DVD2AVI and TMPEG in Sefy's guides here: http://www.kvcd.net/guides/sefy/index.htm Take your time!. If you're new to all of this, this won't be an overnight project 8O . kwag |
The original files are MPEG-1. Does that change anything?
Thanks again, Dave |

If your original files are already MPEG-1, I assume they are VCD's. Why do you want to convert them to KVCD?. You will not get better quality then your originals. Actually the result will be worse then your originals after re-encoding. The only benefit would be "maybe" some saved space after the re-conversion. kwag |
