Hi Austin,

You could simply convert the .DAT in your CD to .MPG with VCDGear, and then open the .MPG in Vdub and select a DivX or XviD CODEC for compression, and encode

yeah thats what i thought but i get a video compression error when i start to encode. i think there is an error in my kvcd. is there program out there that will check if i have any errors.

Hi Austin,

Run TMPEG and use the "Tools" to demux your mpeg file, and then re-mux it.
Actually, VCDGear should be able to repair your mpeg file too :!:

i tried the demux mux thing and then loaded that mpeg into vdub and set it to fast recompress and then chose xvid and then saved and when its starts to encode it gives me this "video compression error code-100 any idea whats happening . thnx for your time

open up vcdgear and choose .dat --> mpeg
check the box fix mpeg errors too
and click the load button and locate your .dat file it will also ask you to save the file after that.
then choose start

what vcdgear do is it fix the change the .dat file into and a real mepg file which has an mpeg header. Vcdeasy can also do this things...
