KVCD too timely to encode - 30+ hours?
 

I have tried encoding a KVCD video But after about 30 hours and only 45% through I give up. I have a 450Mhz PIII, and have completly converted DVD to Divx and DVD to VCD in about 8 hours. Am I doing something wrong or is this time frame normal?

I have a Pentium 4 @1.6Ghz, and it takes me between 5 to 6 hours to encode a movie, so your time is about right for your processor.

BTW: I've a P4 2,4 GHz with 768 MB DDR-Ram and I encode a 704x576 MPEG2 KVCD in 4 hours... :lol: :lol: :lol:

Think about a new CPU+RAM+Board...

Would it make any sense to create a chart showing the different times it takes to create a kvcd with the different machines that exst out there?
This will of course require info from those who have been able to create their kvcds.
For instance, in my IBM pentium III, 800MHz, 516 RAM, burner connecte to the machine via firewire, it may take about 17 hours to encode a 97 minutes movie (this has not been confirmed, but those were the numbers that I was getting before). I can see yours and Avalons......but over 60 hours to create a kvcd? Do not too mjuch about it, but it sounds like an awfull long time............. (BTW, so does 17 hours)

yes, I was referring to the time that petersenj20 would need to burn a kvcd. That compared to the 8 hours that is taken him to burn their Divx....
is way toooo much, but according to Maestro kwag, this is how long it will take him to create the kvcds............
