I see where you are coming from with the zoom player thing but i am still baffled over the fact that my old ones are fine and the new ones aren't.
Any way I burnt it to disk and it plays fine on my tv so i am giving up trying to find out what is wrong with my stupid computer.

Thanks for the help you two its well appreciated as usual.

Cheers.

Just thought i would let you know that i think i know what the cause of the problem is ,but am no closer to fixing it.

In mpeg 2 after the audio conversion is finished and tmpge pops up,
if i click on settings the aspect ratio is 4:3 which is all good.
But when i do mpeg 1 the aspect ratio is 1:1 :?

i am talking about the video tab by the way.

Am i right in thinking this is the cause of my problems?

As you have different behaviour between MPEG1 and MPEG2, and you found a diff in the two process, it seems that that is the source of the problem.

Now... I really don't know why you have 1:1 (and how to fix it).

Well i have done a format and am now starting fresh . i have tried the versions of tmpge and dvd2cvcd i had and is still not right :x .

So i was just wondering if some one could give me some links to the versions you are using so i can finally sort this.

all i have installed on my computer is an xvid codec and power dvd so it must be either dvd2svcd, tmpgenc or avisynth that is causing this.

so could you please post me some links to the versions of these programs that you use and know work.

thank you ,thank ,you thank you.
