hi vmesquita,
Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you w/ my questions. I was mainly getting at the quality issue of those DCT blocks and things that you get when viewing Fullscreen in SW player, or through your TV-OUT. These have ben my issues in the past when dealing w/ divX source. Then, I decided to do my own expeirements w/ divX encoding, and found that if I do it my way, things looked a lot better. Along the way, I found (concluded) that the majority of the quality issues were rooted in the way SW players (and TV-OUTs) display video when "resizing" to fit a given resolution or TV set. From that moment on, I blame quality issues mostly, because of this fact. I'm sorry I don't know the exact algarithems that MPEG-1/2 uses for the resizing and things, but to an extent, resing these mpeg format videos seem to have a better grip on these DCTs and things. divX is not ment to be played in a given DVD player, so there is a lack (void) in this small area. For testing, and setteling yourself in what I'm rambling on about, do your self a test.. encode a divX source, and display through your TV-OUT, in its normal size, THEN, resize to fullscreen TV. See what I mean. That's basically were I was getting at :) -vhelp |
vhelp,
That's interesting! I forgot to mention, most of my DivX have 640xXXX resolution and I use TV-Out at 640x480, so No resizing! Also using TV-Tool Full Screen at 640x480, each line of the output corresponds to a real TV line, so no resizing of any kind! That's why never got this problem... And you can always add reclock to the mix, put the TV in Pal mode and get perfect synch, altrought I never had sinc problems except when playing interlaced content trought TV-Out (in this case reclock is the only way to work) Interesting! But even with no resizing... DCTs still in dark areas both in DivX done by me and the ones done by somebodyelse. But I'll do some tests with this resizing bug, looks like interesting stuff to try.
