Kvcd 120 min pal template makes green blocks?

Hi im new to encoding and i encoded a movie with kvcd's 120 min pal 1 CD template using TMPGenc. I burn it using Nero but when I play it in my TEAC dvd player, it is virtually unwatchable! There are heaps of green blocks in some scenes. i burnt it as a standard VCD (i ticked the standard VCD box), at least i still get some picture. When i dont select that option, i dont get any picture at all just audio!!!
Is it my dvd player or something else
thanks !!!

Hi DOm:

It could be your DVD player. Maybe it doesn't like the KVCD format MPEG-1 VBR, etc ). Did you try burning one of the available samples?

hi kwag
yeah i just downloaded and burnt the dudley moore sample. Still the same. Audio is fine but all fuzzy green lines all over the picture.
i used a CDRW, with standard compliance turned off.
The DVD model is a TEAC DV-2150
thanks for your help! :)
Looks like ill have to get a new DVD player.

Maybe not!. Why don't you try the de-mux/re-mux as SVCD trick. Maybe it will work with your player. Check this thread: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38&start=0

Hi doen1000 !

Check your'r setting for arrange method in TMPGenc ADVANCED tab .
Green lines I got when arrange method was not correct .

Hi guys thanks for the replies.
tried the multiplex thing with bbmpeg, burnt it as SVCD. Still no luck. still lines, looks more like a rainbow now tho :)
its a pretty cheap player any way, i wasnt expecting much out of it.
a question tho, if the kvcd templates wont work, what is the chance of other templates working?
And about the tmpgenc arrange method, what is the correct method? i always pick full screen keep aspect ratio.
thanks guys!

Hi again !
Stop blame you'r player , I'm sure he is fine !
U can't and souldn't choose for every movie full screen( keep aspect ratio) .
First thing u have to do is check what FRAMEsize is your source end then pick the setting .
If your source is DivX then load it in VDub->File->File info u'll see all info
If source is d2v then load to FitCD or even TMPGenc will give you right settings .
U Spend some time with this settings and finally u'll get results !!!

There is no such thing "Player wont play" - U've to trick him

yeah ure right :)
it is divx and i checked the file information the movie's frame size is 576 x 240; 23.976 fps.
I wonder what im doing wrong then. I follow the guide from vcdhelp.com to converting the file to and mpg file with the kvcd PAL 120 minute template loaded.
After loading the template, the frame size is 704 x 576 with 4:3 625 line PAL aspect ratio and the frame rate 25 fps. Should I leave it on these settings?
sorry this is probably quite simple but i dont have any clue! :(

Thanks
Dom
