KVCD: Movie cuts on all sides and macroblocks?
 

I started working with the guides on the site to make my KVCD. I did the audio part with HeadAC3che, then the script with Moviestacker, but when I hit start on TOK I got errors
1. " Not a valid integer, I hit OK and continued, then.
2. When TMPGEnc opens it gives me the red screen with the error must be a YUY2. I looked arround, couldnt fine an answer and finished droping that road.

Then, since Ive been working with video files for some time now and I THINK I understand how to go arround stuff, I made my KVCD with The Matrix and subtitles using TMPGEnc (template: KVCD 352 x 240 plus) and merge it with the audio I got from HeadAC3he on the first failed attempt. The resulting mpeg was about 700MB and fitted perfectly on one CD and I could watch the KVCD on my DVD Player fine... BUT...

THE PROBLEM
1- All the sides (top, bottom, left and right) got cut off about 10% of the Image... I could not see the green text at the begining of the movie, i wonder if this the sacrifice of getting a movie on a CD or am I totaly wrong, and,
2- I still get macroblocks that everybody says are gone ? I want them to go away too !!

I dont know if this is part of my problem, but almost all guides mention Moviestacker, is it totaly necesary to use? or can I just load the templates on TMPGEnc?

Sound like a problem with GripFit. Either you are getting wring parameters for anamorphic or you are applying too much overscan in which case you can use overlap instead. Check these settings out in the 'Resize and Video Stream' section of MovieStacker.

You should be able to put "The Matrix" on one CD, with KVCDx3 resolution (528x480) and no macroblocks at all :!:
Are you using AviSynth? MovieStacker is just a program to give you an AviSynth script to load into TMPGEnc. So it's very useful but not necessary. You'll get far better results if you use AviSynth scripts, rather than loading the template in TMPGEnc. :wink:

Thanks for your interest, I would like to use Moviestacker, but I would like to have a sugestion about the YUY2 error. Is it the avi source ?

BE carreful that some filters complain that "source must be in YUY2" but in fact they want them in... YV12 !

That's due to a bad (or too fast) modification from the former avs2.x versoin into a avs2.5x version.

Gripfit is in this case.

The solution is to take the last release of Xvid and Divx, both able to provide output in YV12 (Xvid ha sto be configured for that, that's not the default) or to add "ConvertToYV12()" juste after the "Avisource(...)" line.

With the information below... is it safe to say that the problem with the " not valid integer and YUY2 errors are because of the source file ?

Well the YUY2 error is actually not an error, it just says that the filters in your AviSynth script or one of them need the video to be YUY2 or actually YV12, as Dialhot already explained.
So try adding ConvertToYUY2() at the very top of the script. If you still have problems add ConvertToYV12().
