If true enable high quality mode, how it have to be

The "enable high quality" was just an example taken from nowhere just to illustrate the idea ! All parameters that can be "true" or "false" aren't related to quality !

In the case of avisource, the second parameter is "decode_audio". As we set it to false, avisource will only decode the video part of the movie.

Second : Mpeg1 is always better than mpeg2, whatever the source.

Ok, guys, here is my qestion related to this "Avi to KVCD" script:
Kwag says, that blockbuster should be used in resolutions like 352x480 or lower. In his opinion the blockbuster lines don't have effect to higher reoslutions. What do you think? Maybe he meant this only for dvd-soucres. Have you done any tests in this direction with avi-sources?

What Kwags meant was that KVCD-Notch matrix is already optimized to reduce DCT blocks a lot and therefore, it is not necessary to use other filter for high resolution. However he recommands to use blockbuster for low res because of the size of the block that becomes to big in comparison with the size of the picture (blocks are always the same size - let say 16x16 pixels, i don't know the real size - so the smaller is the picture, the bigger are the block within the image).

But all this is to avoid creation of DCT blocks ! Here we are trying to removealready existing blocks that are presents in avi movies.

So, as you already guess, here the two lines are usefull whatever the resolution.

This script is for encode to CQ,isnt it?

No is for CQ_VBR...

CQ_VBR for VCD res, CQ for higher res.

oh ! Excuse me, I didn't notice you are doing KDVD !

So, correction to what I told to you : you can't use MPEG1 for KDVD. Only MPEG2.

And for the res, 352*576 is higher than 352*288 so -> CQ mode :-)

Just to clarify, maybe you already know this but I think it is worth mentioning: you can use MPEG1 with KDVD, but only with 352x240/288.

I didn't knew that :-)

You just can't go any higher than 1.856 Mpbs, but I think most players won't have problems with this. There is also some debate if VBR for MPEG1 is in the standard or not... Read here for more info:

But if I want to do KVCD in 2 cd's of 700 MB (740 of *.mpg) in 352x576 from divx sources, is best CQ_VBR, isnt it?
