TMPGEnc: Mpeg file can not open

I just downloaded scooby doo cue/bin file...I used vcdgear and converted it to mpg, when I try to open it in tmpge i get error saying can not open or unsuported, can you tell me what I may be doing wrong or what I need to do?....thanks for any info...also I opened it in mpgprop and it showed a video lock in flags?, (if that helps any) and it also plays in media players with no problem

Are you using the Mpeg tools under the file menu :?:
That should work.
If you are trying to open the file using the video/audio source it won't work. Tmpg expects an avi or an avs (script file):!:

What are you trying to do?

I am not using mpg tools, I am new at this and havn't got that far, I was trying to encode the mpg I converted from the bin/cue with kvcd template at 29 fps704x480, my dvd player is a mintek and it will only play at 29fps, the bin/cue file I downloaded doesnt play in my player, I believe it is encoded at 25 fps?

I just took the mpg I converted and converted it again in vidomi as a divx, tmpge will now open the file, but will only encode about 10 seconds of the soundtrack, then only video after, I opened the divx file in virtual dub and created a wav file of the soundtrack, then opened the divx file and wav file in tmpge, encoded at cq of 100 and it worked fine, I couldn't even notice any quality loss, after all that I would have thought it would look bad, Is there a better way of doing this?

The results are what count. You re-encoded an mpeg file to to divx, then back to an mpeg using tmpg. Many would argue that converting twice on top of the original encode would result in data loss and a poorer vcd but you're the only one who can compare the two and know for sure.

I have mpeg-vcr (its commercial) it allows you to re-encode an mpg with new audio video settings (framerate, compression bitrate etc) similar idea but one step and ready to burn.

1-10,
that file was probably in pal, which shouldnt matter to tsunami.
Depending on the type of mpg it was, or source rather, TS, CAm, Screener, SVCD, and if its the one im thinking about, the quality was not that clean to begin with. Your tv will tell you better how much quality u have lost. For the most part, the kwag templates retain a lot of the source quality, or dont cause the conversion to degrade as much.
Was the mpg an svcd? If so, is the mpg2 feature of your tmpgenc expired past the 30 days?
Also, in vcdgear, did u uncheck all the boxes (fix mpg errors, remove I-bumper, etc ) before converting the bin/cue to mpg? If so, uncheck all boxes and try again. And/or after removing the dat headers (bin/cue to mpg), try running the "mpg to mpg" feature in vcdgear. Or try another version of tmpgenc, 2.53 or 2.55 or even 2.56, and see if any of those other versions open the file.

The kvcd template is great for transcoding the downloadz  that come on two cds unto one cdr for easier viewing. If ya know what im saying. you can even convert the pal ones to ntsc. Hasn't failed yet. :D

I just thought of another step to save u converting to divx first.

Virtual Dub should open mpg1 files. If your copy does open it (it will pop a window saying its rendering or parsing), do any editing and then Frameserve it back to tmpgenc, if you are indeed going to reencode to kvcd. This should save u having to convert to divx then back to kvcd.
