Tip on 895mb CD Resolution

Ok, i'm pushing KVCD to the limits with the resolution of 704x576, it's from a PAL source and i'm encoding right now.

Although i want your opinion, if you have test already, what is the best 704x576 or 528x576, both with CQ 65.

It's with one CD 895MB Burning in MODE2.

Thanks for your opinions.

PS: With latest script from KWAQ Avisynth 2.5, is better to use Motion search or high quality???

Hello Sniffer,

704x576 will be better than 528x480 for the same CQ, but of course, if a movie fits in 1 CD at 528x576 and CQ 65, you will have to use a lower CQ to fit in the same 895 Mb but at 704x576. In this case it is better to use 528x480 since the difference is resolution is not very perceptible when viewing on TV, but the difference in CQ is.
Since you are in PAL land I guess it will be difficult to fit in 1 cd at 704x576 with the best quality... But you can always try.

With this script, Motion Search is reported to give better quality. I only do KDVDs with CCE so I can't give my personal experience, but this is Kwag's recommendations if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the reply

I have search for Kwag recommendations and you are right, motion search is the option to take, but he says that 528x576 is the road to take instead of 704x576.

So there it will be... i make my first Pro test's(With Avysynth properly conf, templates,And CQ squeezed with CQMatic to the last bit .............................and i'm quite impressive with the result, like Brian Adams "SO FAR SO GOOD"
