Divx to MPG conversion problem
I am trying to burn a VCD from a divx. The movie plays in Divx player, Media Player and Nero. However it is to large to straight burn. I tried splitting it with virtualdub but the video doesn't show. Also using KVCD templates in tmpgenc the video also doesn't show. What's up here?
Any help would be appreciated. Mike |
find a program called aviutil
load the divx (avi) into it then save it and select "no recompression" then try it, it seems to iron out the errors in an avi it worked for me just the other day p.s let me know if it works for you |

AVI Edit wont show file?
I wish to thank you for your help.
Today: I downloaded avi edit and opened the Divx file. I then previewed it. It ran with sound but no video. So saving it w/o recompression would do no good. Yesterday: Using avi split I split the file into 2. I played the split movie in nero and it was fine. Then I had Nero convert to mpeg and burn it. The burn reported as good. However the movie plays with no video. I am at Witts end. Mike |
M,
I'm assuming that if your divx file plays, meaning you can see audio and video, in windows media player and divxplayer, without any spots, discolorations, additives, freezing, bad frames, off synch, etc...that the file as divx is okay. When you load it into virtual dub, and u say it does show video: have u tried playing it? (second button on bottom left with triangle/arrowhead and an I)? Or tried moving the slider bar to the left to see if there is any video at all. On some flix i've had the first few frames of the video will have a few black frames, once i move the bar it shows video and audio, albeit slow if its a d2v dvd2aviprojectfile. If u do see video and hear audio, rewind the file, go to Edit, Set Select Start - Home,,,then slide the bar towards the middle where you want to make your cut. Edit, Set Selecton End. The first half of the movie should be highlighted (blue) or marked, then check Direct Stream Copy for your video and audio, File , Save Avi, choose another name and you should have two halves ----provided you wanted to cut your file to two halves---but you can use this method to cut whereever you want. Under tmpeng, go to settings, source range,,and move the slider to the right (youll see the audio wave move as well), if you see video, your okay to encode is my guess. If not more info may be required... ztr |
