vmesquita's K(S)VCD/KDVD Calc 1.1 released!

Hello everyone,

I made this calculator for you to find the desired sample size when using my guide to encode your K(S)VCDs/KDVDs using Tmpgenc or CCE. Grab it here:

http://www.jltoca.uaivip.com.br/vmesquita.htm
http://www.rj-elektronik.de/avalon/f...a/KDVDCalc.exe (mirror by Avalon)

As usual any suggestions and bug reports are welcome. This calculator was based in a excel spreadsheet Totonho03 sent me to do the same job. I started trying to improve his spreadsheet and decided to do a full standalone calculator. So Thanks a Lot Totonho03 for the original idea. Enjoy!

I updated Your mirror page...

http://www.rj-elektronik.de/avalon/f...a/KDVDCalc.exe

Great work!

bTW: I think You only add MP2 to your calc. When do you add AC3? Can You add custom size for audio?

vmesquita 08-31-2003 05:38 AM

Avalon,

Thanks again for keeping the mirror! :D :D
Since the calc only uses the bitrate, you can use to calculate with AC3 or MP2 audio. 8)
About custom size, I think it's nice idea specially when you don't want to recompress audio. I'll add in the next release, for now you can find you the track's bitrate (which is easy using DVD2AVI, when you use demux all tracks it always puts the bitrate in the name of the files)

This is interesting:

I just realised that the predicition formula is redundant. Check it out:
Letīs calculate the factor for a 1:40:24 movie, with 144432 frames:

144432/100,4/15

But let's remember that if we are dealing with a 23.976 fps movie, the number of frames can be obtained by doing: 100,4*60*23,976. That would be 144431,4! So we have:

(lenght_in_minutes)*60*fps/(lenght_in_minutes)/15

and this could be simplyfied to:

60*fps/15 = 60*FPS/GOP

Much better! I'll change the calculator for this!

Ok everyone!

New version 1.1 just released! Now you can enter either the bitrate or the audiosize! The new version alsos uses the simplified formula. And now it has a new and cool icon instead of the boring MFC icon! Please download from my link until Avalon updates he's mirror!

Version 1.1 http://www.rj-elektronik.de/avalon/f...a/KDVDCalc.exe

Now with the new features Your Calc is best!!!! Kwag when do u update urs?

kwag 08-31-2003 11:22 AM

Hi vmesquita,

Great work :D
But please, check your calculations, because the total video is off from the one really needed :!:
It's too low.

@Avalon,
Why should I :?:
CalcuMatic is serving it's purpose, and closely matches the results of Moviestacker, Bearson's, FitCD, etc.

vmesquita:

A silly question:
I can not open your calc file, instead a get a message stating that " A required MFC42.dll file is missing" Am I doing something wrong?
I will go to the web and try to locate that .dll

Thanks

Totonho03

vmesquita 08-31-2003 12:55 PM

Totonho03,

Yes, probably this DLL is needed. Try to download here:

Thank you vmesquita:

I downloaded the dll and was able to open the calc. Looks very good.

Thanks again

Totonho03

P.S>- I am still waiting for the third film to finalice its encoding. For some reason it is taking a heck of a long time. (Scandisk is popping up every 30 minutes or so) It should be completed withing the next 4 hours or so.

Ok thanks.

Maybe the server was down or had reached its limit when I checked last night.

gosens

btw. thanks for your guides, I haven't yet successfully created any KDVD's or KVCD's but I'm slowly figuring all this out...

vmesquita 10-30-2003 12:17 PM

Just keep trying, sooner or later you'll have your KDVDs/K(S)VCDs working and them I bet you won't be able to stop creating them. :D
