DVD2SVCD: couldn't locate a decompressor for avs

I've tried to do my first divx -> skvcd attempt but get errormessage on preview -> "couldn't locate a decompressor for........avs".

I think I have all codec's installed (I CAN watch the particular .avi file).

What am I doing wrong ?

Being abble to watch a movie is not the same than having all the codecs : you can have a directshow filter that do the work, and that is completly different from a codec.

Avs use codecs only with "avisource" and directshow filters only with "directshowsource".

Here I guess you have ffdshow, that is a wonderfull directshow filter that can replace xvid, divx, huffyuy, mjpg... en a lot of other codecs. But it is NOT a codec and then NOT use by avisynth.

You must DL and install the codecs needed by your avi if you want to convert them in KVCD.

(note: your problem can also come from the audio, for instance if the audio of your avi is in ogg vorbis format).

But I DID install the proper codec (Xvid MPEG4). First I couldn't play it, then installed the Xvid coded and I could play it.

Gspot says the audio is MPEG1 layer III...........

Shall I remove and then re-install the coded ??

Does Gspot also says that the rendering is ok for both Video and Audio steams ?

Do you use zoomplayer ? If yes, watch the video with it and tell me what filters and codecs are used according to zoomplayer.

Ah......I only now read your reply Dialhot

I've put this project on hold, too much work with other projects..........but I check this Zoomplayer prog out and see if it works.).
