Under linux ffmpeg can read yuv4mpeg streams (from the mjpegtools package), maybe avisynth can produce that type of stream?

Why I have to multiplex with Tmpgenc?

Sorry kwag,

I'm working with ffmpegx and it goes like a charm. The only "problem" is that for DVD player compatibility I've to de-multiplex and multiplex with tmpgenc....like you say in the message!!

Why? It's possible to do this "correction" -tmpenc said a lot of underbuffer packs- with a mac program. I have tryied the missingtools ans vcdgear, but none do the correction on tmpgenc!

Thanks.

Then it's not a charm

Why?
Because the encoder is screwed up :!:

And that's exactly why it's useless for playing back as VCD.
It will work fine (sort of) played on a software player, but not on a standalone.

It could be a useful tool if it improves that handicap!

It's true.

But, in my opinion, the ffmpegx 0.0.9 in my Powermac 7300 G3 300 RAM works as fast as tmpgenc in Celeron 700 256 RAM. It's useful because I can encode with my old mac as fast as in my notebook. :!:

The mpeg1 that I've encoded with ffmepgx has a better quality - VCD 352x288 and 352x576-than the tmpgenc ones. Fantastic, because the quality -almost for me- is greater. 8O

I think it's a useful tool, but the "main" problem is that for my standalone player i have to demux+mux with tmpgenc. Ok, i'll have a win computer and i can do it!

For a beginner like me, it isn't a charm to customize tmpgenc+other win tools to do a good mpeg1. So it is a easy and powerful tool like ffmpegx, because I don't have to know advanced terms to manage it.

I wonder to do all the process!

1. encode
2. repair the mpeg to player compatiblity
3. do bin/cue
4. burn

I've solved all the parts with the mac, except the number 2.

And I think lot of people could do more than they can do know with the mac.
