KVCD: Cleaning up audio before Muxing with video?

first off, sorry if this is not in the right forum slot, but I looked in the audio section and there was nothing there that fit what I need..........I have audio files (from movies) that need to be cleaned up, such as hiss, heavy bass, nrmalization and things like that. What is the BEST program to get the BEST results to make these files sound close to perfect as possible?

(* they are in wav format now)

I tried Cooledit and GoldWave with not so great results, they are ok but I need something better....

Thanx Bombero

hy bombero!
:)
well, better than this programs is a question of opinion!
and my opinion, sound forge is better than all.
some programs are better and cool but the best is the plugins used in this programs.
plugins for sound forge:
waves maxbass-great for basses(and subs)..is the best that i know!
normalization and dehiss are built in and have tons of parameters.

another great is T-Racks(tube simulator)...fantastic for basses too!

are these good for "heavy bass" I mean it has too much bass and I want to lower it, when there are explosions and such the sound is drowned out by the bass?
