KVCD: converting MPEG-1 VCD sources?

Can anyone help me with converting MPEG-1 VCD sources? I tried using the directshowsource() line in my avs script to open the file, but then both virtualdub and tmpgenc won't accept the script. In fact when I try to load it both programs simply quit. Tmpgenc was giving me a virtual c+ runtime dll error of some sort the first couple times, but now it doesn't even do that. Any ideas guys? Thanks!
