Lower Q value in CCE or increase max bitrate - Which is better?
Is there a Q value in CCE that I shouldn't go below of? I'm using Q value of 20 and still has space on the DVD. I don't know whether to increase the max bitrate in CCE or just keep lowering the Q value? Which is better? People have been using Q value of above 30, I don't know if there'll be undesirable effect if I go below that and becomes closer to 1.

Increase the max bitrate to 9000, I can notice difference in Q factor as low as 16. So with Q16 and max 9000 you should be able to get the size you want.

What is the max bitrate you should normally encode with CCE, given your source is divx/xvid?

okay but at a max bitrate of 4500 is it still possible to fit 2-3 movies per DVD, or does the CQ become too high for that?

I actually do 2-movie DVD (both with two audio and one subtitle stream).
I plan to make a 3-movie DVD but for that I will use 544*576 as resolution for that. At 704*576, more than 4h of video is too much. |
