KVCD: Mainconcept for beginners?

okay....there are many people like me who love mainconcept and want to use kvcd with it.....now i have searched the word "mainconcept" in this forum and i have heard a lot of stuff about copying settings and i have been redirected to threads with templates written on it....now i have no idea how to use these....can anyone please make these templates and make them ready for download??....and can anyone make a simple tutorial on how to implement these templates in mainconcept.....i mean where do u go??File-load??i DONT KNOW!! so can u please help beginners like me out and hopefully is people give good tutorial, it can be made into a sticky.....and can anyone tell me how kvcd actually fits a movie on one cd with such a small file size and how does it do it all without harming video quality??....in terms a dummy can understand....thanks..

okay.....since sombody needs a start.....this is a file of mainconcept that i found in its folder.........www.vendingtrends.com/vcdntsc.mef

 IT IS NOT A KVCD FILE!!

i dont know if it is what u need or not but if it is please give it a try and configure it.....

I need a KVCD file for mpeg1......fit it on one cd....and a resolution of 352x240....thanks[/url]

Well, I am not surprized you received no answers to this post. I think the result you will have won't be a KVCD. In my opinion KVCD is not only MPEG-1, matrix and GOP, but also AviSynth, optimal script, resolution, CQ encoding method and... TMPGEnc.

it is not the "problem" for "no answers"(mine answers).
i don't know and never used mainconcept before...
i need the (slow) first steps to try!
seems interesting!

a .mef file is just a text file and you can take the existing svcdntsc.mef, vcdntsc.mef etc... and copy and paste the q matrix

How do i save the two templates ntsc and pal (what's the extension)
and how do I load these templates into mainconcept.

I named them *.mes but i could not load them into mainconcept.

well first of all it's an .mef and the file goes here...

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\MCMPEGEnc

MainConcept saves your templates to this folder... MCMPEGEnc

I don't really use MainConcept, I just played around with it one night...

TMPGENC is a better encoder for VCD's. Once I get a DVD burner I will probably use Mainconcept to make KDVD's since it's faster and a higher bitrate you can't really tell the difference between the two encoders. Also with MainConcept it's easy to hit your target size...
