Hi EightBall,

You need XviD CODECS.
Get them here: http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml
Check the AVI forum on this site, where you can get more answers reated to AVIs. ( I just moved this thread here )

Downloaded codec

Downloaded the Codec, but tmpgenc still wont open it. It will let me load it as the source now that the codec has been installed but when I click start it returns an error:
Write error occured at address 77f83905 of module 'ntdll' with 00000000.

Make sure you are encoding "Video ES" only. Not Video+Audio.
Also, check that the "Audio source:" field is blank :!:
That's very important.

Yup, tried again to double check your instructions Karl, but it still pops up a box with an error.
Wonder if its time to reinstall TMPGenc?
I'll try that and reprt back.http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif

Just unistalled, then reinstalled TMPGenc 2.5 form the KVCD link to it. Tried the same proceedure again, got the same error message outlined earlier.

This codec thing, it installed itself to a folder on my computer. Should it be in the TMPGenc folder maybe?

Stuck.
again.
as usual
dagnabit

I think the problem is in avisynth, try using different script.

CheronAph!!

Those links were perfect. In the first link there was a link to another article which completely solved the issue for me in seconds! thanks for the post it was an enormous help.

For anyone else who comes accross the TMPGenc error message when working with Xvid, here is the solution. As mentioned above this is someone elses work, I'll leave that party's name attached for credit.

THE PROBLEM:
Write error occured at address 77F436F7 of module 'ntdll.dll' with 00000000.

THE CURE:
1) Open TMPGEnc and press Cancel if Wizard pops up
2) Go to Option->Environmental Setting...->VFAPI plug-in
3) Adjust the plug-in priorities (this is done by right clicking on
the plug-in and choosing Higher priority as many times as
necessary) to match the following:

DirectShow Multimedia File Reader........3
AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader................. 1
AVI VFW compatibility Reader...............0
CyberLink MPEG-2 Decoder..................0
Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder....................0
Wave File Reader.................................0
BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader.............-2
DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.76+......-2*
TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.58.........-2*

4) Press OK
5) Now you can load your XviD AVI into TMPGEnc just like any other
AVI and encode as you wish.

Enter the setting above and you will have no more problems. TMPGenc will do any avi codec to vcd/svcd no problem. No more ntldll error message will appear or any other message will appear.
