352x288-Test samples

Hi all

ive spoken to kwag about these and he said to post them for people to take a look at, the only thing thats altered from the standard template is on Quantize Matrix which i changed to CG/Animation from default. I will try this on other movies not just animation but its like it adds the finishing touchs when played through a stand-alone dvd player

CQ70 549MB (688.995,944 bytes)Quantize Matrix - Default

CQ74 661MB (693.190,732 bytes)Quantize Matrix - Default

CQ74 689MB (722.554,314 bytes)Quantize Matrix - CG/Animation

As you can see by altering the setting it affects the outcome of the file by roughly 30MB more.

Try ,right click save target as if it trys to play it through your browser.

30sec sample is 4MB - 10sec is 2MB

Fine work here kwag again .... i'm a true MPG1 convert.

Hey Pnumonic,

I'm actually just ripping Shrek now myself. My player has problems with the KVCD template, so to get it to work I have to use 352x240 and not 352x480, and it works. I encoded Shrek at 352x240 with CQ 74 and the default Quantize matrix. What do you recommend? using the CG quantize matrix or the new quantize matrix in the KVCDx2 template? The file size is 624,412,320 bytes, should I increase the CQ as well to put on an 80min CD-R?

Thanks,

Spyglass

@Spyglass

You should try a small one minute clip with the new Q.matrix and with the default Q.matrix, and look at the quality.

I think the quality with the Q.matrix ( The Andreas Matrix ) the one integrated now in the KVCD templates, will give you much better quality, and a smaller file size.
Analyze both clips with bit rate viewer.

Hey Kwag,

I ran into something really wierd. I encoded SHREK at 352x240 and CQ 74 using the regular KVCD template no modifications (no changes in the Q.Matrix, so I'm assuming that's the Andreas Matrix). The quality was great on my 27" TV. Then I encoded Harry Potter, split into two discs at 352x240 CQ 78 again regular KVCD template no modifications, and the quality really sucks. I mean, I see blocks everywhere. I don't get it. Any suggestions?

I've got a Celeron566 OC@850 with 256MB RAM, and since my DVD player doesn't like the regular KVCD template (remuxed or not as SVCD) unless its at 352x240, and plays KVCDx2 704x480 only if its remuxed as SVCD and using MVBR instead of CQ. Sometimes it is jerky, plus I don't want to spend 40 hours encoding. Looks like I've only got two options, 352x240w/5hours encoding or 704x480w/40hours encoding.

i encoded lord of the rings 352x240 CQ:80 , blockiness anyway to improve this? thanks

Hey can anyone help me on what are the best settings to use with the new KVCD template resolution at 352x288 to get the best results? I need to know what to adjust in the TMPGEnc settings. Thanks...........

You shouldn't need to adjust anything.
The best settings are the ones already in the templates.
They've been optimized to the max!
