KVCD encoding for 16:9 hdTV?
Is it necessary to change to 16:9 at the aspect ratio under "Video" tap if KVCD is to be viewed at 16:9 TV set? What about "video arrange method"?

Hmm...
I encoded ToyStory2 with the following settings: KVCDx2-CQ-704x480-(NTSCFilm)-1CD template video stream aspect ratio = 16/9 525 line (NTSC) video source aspect ratio = 16/9 525 line (NTSC) video source arrange method = Full screen (keep aspect 2) no cropping! The results on my Panny RP-56 & Panny CT-34WX50 produced a perfect 16x9 picture with no black bars\distortions\stretching\clipping. Is there a better way to achieve the same result? |
There can be problems on certain players on 4:3 TV sets.
Eg. bevore I did an firmware update of my Yamakawa 715 player 16:9 encoded (S)VCD were displayed at 4:3 and my TV set cant be forced to 16:9 .... now It sorta works. If I insert an 16:9 DVD first I will get the correct aspect ratio on the VCD... even weird resolutions like mentioned in my last thread. :D Drawback in 16:9 encoding is the considerably bigger filesize compared to 4:3 with black bars. If you only have an 16:9 TV set and still can get your films on the desired ammount of CD-Rs youre at the optimum. Rookie |
