Patchable Settings For SVCDs/KVCDs

Hi all...

I encountered a problem yesterday with my new DVD-Standalone Player, which certainly supports KVCDs and SVCDs. I know that because some of my old SVCDs work, and here comes the problem, and some won't. In fact the picture is only shown half, and it seems to be streched vertically on the screen. . These SVCDs were encoded maybe 2 years ago, but I'd really love to watch them again, and now I wonder what settings would cause that to happen?? I know ALL my backups have supported resolutions and framerates (25fps PAL), so that's not the problem.

So my question is, are there any settings that I could patch using DVDPatcher that would make these "oldies" work in my new player?

Hi Jellygoose,

Have you tried patching a different aspect ratio with DVDPatcher :?:

No I haven't done that yet... What program will show me the current settings of the Files? (i.e. Aspect Ratio etc.)

When you open your MPEG with DVDPatcher, it will show you the aspect the file is set to.

Alright thanks kwag... I already figured it out, because Bitrate viewer tells me Aspect Ratio with these movies is 1:1 VGA, where of course it should be 4:3 right? So would I want to patch only the first header with DVDPatcher or the whole file?

HI Jellygoose,

Try patching the complete mpeg file, just in case :!:
