Ripped DVD - Now what?
Just ripped the movie: A View From the top.
Have a file folder with 6 VTS files in it. as well as a couple info files. I thought Dvd Decypter would rip the data into one large AVI file? Where do I go from here? |
Now open the first vob file (VTS_01_1.VOB) with DVD2AVI v. 1.76 and it will automatically load the full movie. Press F5 to preview the movie and look at the stats window on the right side to see if you need to use "Force Film" or not (85% FILM or higher use force film). Then save project to get a D2V file that you can open with MovieStacker to create a .avs.
8 simple steps with DVD source are: 1. Rip the dvd 2. load vobs into DVD2AVI to create .d2v project file 3. create .avs 4. load .avs into TMPGEnc and create .tpr (tmpgenc project file) 5. load .tpr with CQMatic to do the prediction and full encode to .m1v file 6. convert .ac3 audio file (separated from vobs with dvd2avi earlier) to mp2 file with HeadAC3he or BeSweet 7. join (mux) .m1v video file to .mp2 audio file with BBMpeg to get MPG file 8. burn MPG with cd burning software (VCDEasy, Nero, etc.) to get a KVCD |
:)
Thanks my friend.
Will try. :D |
clarification
Rendalunit,
I did as suggested, opened vts_1_01.vob and it did automatically load all the rest of the VTS files. (neat!) Pressed f5 and was previewing the move, copied down 16:9, 29.970 fps, Film, progressive. Heres where I get lost: ""to see if you need to use "Force Film" or not (85% FILM or higher use force film)"" The word film was there, but no percentage figure? What does your sentence mean? I checked force film anyway. To play it safe. Then when I go back to save the project, I see only a black screen, is that normal, or should I be seing the movie like in the preview? If so, what did I do wrong? 4. ""load .avs into TMPGEnc and create .tpr (tmpgenc project file)"" How does one do this? Same as templates? "6. convert .ac3 audio file (separated from vobs with dvd2avi earlier) to mp2 file with HeadAC3he or BeSweet" When earlier, I don't remember any stepd seperating the audio, could you outline the proceedure? join (mux) .m1v video file to .mp2 audio file with BBMpeg to get MPG file Is there a reason we aren't doing it in TMPGenc? Thanks a lot for the reply, I hope you'll be able to answer some or all of these questions. Eightball |
sorry to chime in here but
@ren: are you still on AviSynth 2.08? Because for 2.52, DVD2AVI 1.77+ would really be better. Optimized and faster for that version of AviSynth... |
switching to 1.77+.
Thanks Jellygoose. |

hope this helps, ren |
I read in one of Kwags posts that when it just says FILM and no percentage figure, that means the percentage is 100% and you must chose forced film.
I'm still "digesting" the rest of what you said. I ain never been the sharpest knife in the drawer. Know whut I mean? |
""load .avs into TMPGEnc and create .tpr (tmpgenc project file)""
How does one do this? In TMPGEnc after you've loaded the .avs and ready to start the encoding go to File > Save Project > TMPG Text Project Quote: Same as templates? No you load the template when you first open TMPGEnc I was under the impression that you first select new project ( to clean the slate so to speak) then open the video file before loading the KVCD template, Do I then load the avs? How? Or am I once again the "victim" of incorrect thinking? Thanks for the help. |
He means FILE=>SAVE PROJECT=> and then press the arrow pointing down and choose "Tmpgenc text project" for the file format. Then you can use this .tpr file for filesize prediction with CQMatic.

:D Thanks very much Edlund.!! :D
Geez, now it seems so darned easy, you'd never believe the things I was trying to do to get it to work. 8O I always expect the answer to be something way more sisnster and diabolical. Appreciate the help. Thank you. And you, Ren! |
@ren:
For point 3. CREATE Avs. I can simply use the optimal avs script for clean DVD sources that Kwag posted right? Or must I use Moviestacker to do this step first for some reason? |
"After you save the project file (.d2v) with DVD2AVI you should see an .ac3 file in the directory that you saved the project in "
I see 2 .ac3 files: ac3td1 & ac3td2 Did I miss a setting, or is this right? |
In DVD2AVI you need to choose the AC3 track you want to add to your movie, according to the language you prefer.
If you rip with SmartRipper you can get the information about which track is which language out of the Text File it creates. 8) |

http://www.angelfire.com/film/rendal...ker_guide.html You should (but don't have to) use MovieStacker and then modify the script with an editor. If the guide helps you then you'll be the first one!  ren |
  Common rendal, it's not THAT bad...
