After TMPGenc does simple multiplex, the file is now 1.1gb?
I just converted an AVI (700 mb) resulting in a 77.4 mb audio file, and a
249 mb video file. After TMPGenc does its simple multiplex the file is now 1.1 gb??? 8O I had the same thing happen yesterday with a DVD rip of A Few Good Men, and though its a long movie, I'll just use Tmpgenc merge and cut to split it into 2 cd-r's. But after I did the merge and cut and went to burn, I found that both files had become reduced and easily fit on 1 cd-r. 8O What am I doing wrong, or what have I overlooked? please and thankyou. |
I should have metioned it was a Christmas movie (Christmas Vacation) and I used the 360 min KVCD template, because I'd like to get a couple/ few on a disc. It should be way smaller, no?

Never heard of such a thing
|
That's probably due to padding. Try to raise the VBV buffer value and encode again, or multiplex as SVCD with bbMPEG.
|
Are you sure you multiplexed as VBR and not CBR? This is important too...
|
Thanks guys for the reply's.
Boulder: yes, that makes sense. I think TPMGenc is strong in certain areas and weak in others. I've never tried BBmpeg before, is there a GUI version? Where in TMPGenc do I go to raise the VBV buffer value? Jellygoose: I used the 360 min KVCD template when I did the encode, so it should be the same in the multiplex, no? Where would I change it during multiplex? |
See your new post

Thanks bud!
Still I need the question I asked of Boulder answered? Where do I change it? |

Click "Settings", and you'll see the "VBV Buffer Size" box on the "Video" tab. There you can change the value. -kwag |
Whew..Finally.
Thank You Karl. Thesetting reads 40. Thats what the 360 min template sets it to right? I should be messing with that? Can I pm you? these file sizes are driving me nuts. |

Most probably, no. Quote:
I only read PM's a couple of times a day, and lately, only once a day. You'll probably get faster replies posting here in the forum. -kwag |
PROBLEM SOLVED
Problem Solved.
Was reading some other threads and caught a little comment by Sans-Grip saying that TMPGenc 2.59 was having trouble with files sizes. Light bulb came on. Checked my recently registered version. Yup 2.59!! Switched back to 2.58 , re encoded and it was correct. No offence to TMPGenc, but you'd think the could post a note saying its not working right somewhere. Thanks to Sans Grips comment, this small nightmare is resolved. Kwag: Suggestion: A Forum header: Quirks Unveiled. Where members can post thier latest discoveries and save others hours . Mine would Say:  Problem: When muxing in TMPGenc, end result was huge file sizes that exceeded the original source file size. :D Solution: Problem was with TMPGenc version 2.59. Uninstall and reinstall of 2.58 fixed everything. What do you think? PS. Thanks Karl, I won't be bothering you now that its settled  . |
Yes, that's a good idea

@EightBall: We already have that! "Questions and Answers" Forum at the very top. Right under the "What's happening" Forum!
