Encoding: Does KVCD work with dat or rm/rmvb files?
Hi I'm new and I've noticed that your forum only mentions using AVI / MPEG files. I have come across many files that that are bt/rm/rmvb/dat formats. Do the programs you are using to cram 2 hrs onto 1 VCD work on those files or do I have to convert them? Also how long would it take and how much space would I need for the new converted files, and would the audio/visual quality be terrible afterwoods? Can I do it on a ordinary cd burner using nero as I don't have a dvd burner.

A DaT file is an mpg file with vcd headers, etc... and can easily be transfered back to regular mpg. Tmpgenc can handle a wide range or formats, or other helper tools (i.e. bink smack, etc). Space would be about the same on your hd. Will burn the same as a regular kvcd. One of the formats I've seen which convert very nicely are .qt/.mov files. I.E. movie trailers in quicktime format (http://www.apple.com/trailers/) as they are in very good quality to begin with. ZtR |

Thanks for your response. But I have a lot of files that are bit torrent files. Do you know how to convert to AVI so I can cram more onto one vcd? Or can I change to svcd straightway? Thanks |
W,
For conversions from Avi/Xvid/DivX get familiar with our forum @ http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=66 It should answer your questions about conversion. Depending on the quality of your avi files - the quality of your kvcd's may or may not turn out as well as direct from your dvd's. BT's are just shells more or less. NB.
