best quality process for XVID to KVCD?

I'm using AVI2SVCD's decompress.exe to decompress the audio from XVID. Then Encoding in TMPGEnc as MPEG1 both aspect ratios set to 16:9 NTSC, motion predict and "full screen, keep aspect ratio". It gives me rather good results. I watch my movies from 32" Sony Widescreen.

The question is, should i use AVS script in the middle, does that improve the qulity? And how about first separating the audio and video in VirtualDub, does that have any affect :?: Then where should i do the adding audio to video? (muxing?) What would be the best procedure.. :?

I also read that "Only use MPEG2 if MPEG1 doesn't work, MPEG1 is better quality" -from kwag example..

Really appreciate the answers to these questions, Thank you :!:

Yes, you should use avs script.
About the virtualdub - the more experienced people here say that this program encodes the audio better than the others so you should use it too:) After extracting the audio to wav file you must convert it to a mp2 file. I use headac3e for this.
And at the end - the muxing. I use TMPGenc (but not version 2.59) - "File->MPEG tools->simple multiplex". You can use the programs bbmpeg or mplex too.

Yes don't use decompress.exe but VirtualDub for Audio-Extraction! Make sure you have it on "Full Processing Mode" !
