General question on resolution KVCDx2 PLUS
 

Sorry if this is answered somewhere else in the forume. I have done a search and could not find the answer.
Why does KVCDx2 PLUS use 704x480 instead of 720x480?
I know 704x480 is the standard for xvcd but why?
If my DVD player plays the KVCDx2 PLUS test vid off the test CD will it play a vcd at 720x480? What will I loose or gain with 720x480?

I ask these questions because I know the great minds out there (like kwag and the others) have the answers.

Nearly the same visual quality and less bits to encode than 720*480. That so simple.
