KVCD: never to use the wizard in TMPGEnc?
in the last week i red all the guides of making kvcd in here, but allways got lost and wasn't able to get it right. eventually i found this guide http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_divx2kvcd.php that sinply say to put the file in TMPGEnc and than burn it. this is so easy and it's working for me.
so my question is why should i try one of the harder ways when this way is so easy. another question, i red that Kwag said never to use the wizard in TMPGEnc, and in this guide they say to use it, why shouldn't i use it? thank's |
1/ the guide doesn't tell anything about the file size of the encoded movie. That's normal : by using the wizard, you do not have any control on this one and that is the hardest point in a KVCD encoding !
(note : you can see in the guide that it has a 44 min movie and the expected size is... 800 Mb ! Even if this expected size is completly false (encoding at CQ=60 -> very very low !)) 2/ the guide use MPEG2 where MPEG1 is far better. Unfortunaly (for the guide man) it use TMPGEnc2.59 that is the ONLY version that is bugged in MPEG1, and that is why you MUST'NT use this. 3/ the guide completly forgot to say that audio engine of tmpgenc is very bad comparing to headache or besweet. Conclusion : this guide is a crap. That is why you should use a more "harder" way, as we do, if you want to obtain the best quality for your KVCDs |
thank's for the answer.
could you recomend on a good guide for me to try learning from? thank's |
Personally, I like Black Prince's guide. Using it, I've been able to do just about everything I wanted to do, and expand my knowledge considerably.

Go on the homepage of kvcd.net, on the right side of the script.

I like Black Prince's guide also nice and easy to follow. Razorblade had a good graphical guide not sure if its still available but the only problem with his guide is be careful as it was a guide for DivX to KVCD yet the script he put on his guide was the MA script which is for a DVD source as i found out through trial and error as Tok was making MPegs way over the 800 Meg, but thanks to Dialhot he helped me out and i use his excellent V3 script for DivX conversions. :) |
Hi i found the link to RazorBlades DivX2KVCD guide its an excellent graphical guide. Get it <<<HERE>>>
Note be warned though do NOT use the script that he has put on his site or you will end up with an MPEG way over your desired size for example i wanted to fit a movie on a 80Min CD and instead of getting near the 800MB mark my file nearly 1Gig in size. The reason is he has shown the MA script which is only for DVD source what he should have done was point you to Dialhot's excellent V2 Optimised script for DivX. I found out the hard way but thanks to Dialhot after a quick post and posting my script he promptly told me i was using the incorrect script and then i started using his excellent scripts and haven't looked back since. :) So a Big Thank you to Dialhot for his scripts. :) :) V1 & V2 Script V3 Script |
In fact V2 and V3 are now the same. There was a former "V2" script but it was enhanced and called V3. When V3 was approved by other peoples, V3 became "new V2".
I will change the message to be more clear. Note: I'm working on a new new V2, that will be the V4. Not satisfied yet, but I'll give you a word about this ASAP. |
@Dialhot
Yeah sorry about that buddy i should have made it a bit more clear that V3 is now actually V2, the V2 script IMHO is at the moment for me the best DivX script and i have had some excellent results from it. PS: I cant wait for your V4 script i eagerly await what tweaks and delights you have in store for us. ;) |
