Size of XVcd files?

HI all...

a quick newbie question: whenever i try to make a XVcd of a 1 hour DVD, my final mpges are over 1 Mb.

is that the expected?? its not possible to fit 1 hour of full-screen DVD into a 80Min CD with X-Vcd KVcd script??

thanks!

PEACE!

For sure it is. You have to give a look to CQMatic (see forum index).

Note: wich version of Tmpgenc do you have ?

I dont have it here, but my version of TMPGEnc Plus is one of the latest. I got it two weeks ago from their official site.

I will check about this CQMatic, but... could someone please tell me what could i be doing wrong??? So far, using the X_Vcd 700X400 resolution, 60 min DVD results in mpegs are over 1 Mb!

thanks!!

You don't do anything wrong, don't worry.

That's only that you encode with a CQ that is too high. And as each movie need a different CQ value to fit exactly on one CD, no one can tell you the correct value to use for your particular movie.

That's what CQMatic is for : it finds the optimal CQ you have to use.

Thank you very much for your answer to my question!

But i always have to use this high CQ value, because whenever i use a smaller resolution, like 528x480 or even lower 352x240, i get an horrible image quality, with a lot of "noise"/"color blurs" on the contours of all caracthers, objects and persons on screen. They look like a badly aliased web graphic!!!

Not sure if this is a side effect of something wrong i do or if its a carachteristics of VCD 352x240 resolution.

I'm really disatisfied with the overall quality/size of the xvcds in making, so i guess i'll just give it up. i've downloaded various mpeg videos from kazaa with 352x240 resolution that look excellent, with a great sharp image quality when i make vcds with them, so....

thanks a lot for the help anyway!!

PEACE!!!
