New version DVD2AVI 1.77

I just got dvd2avi 1.77 I always used to see ppl sayin use 1.76 so before I use it, is dvd2avi 1.76 the best version to still use?

Jellygoose 10-28-2003 09:02 AM

With AviSynth 2.52 you're better off using Version 1.77! For 2.0 use 1.76+.

andybno1 10-28-2003 09:14 AM

cheers I'll go ahead and use it then lol

any recomended settings for 1.77?

Peter1234 03-29-2004 01:34 AM

When I tried, AviSynth 2.55 would not read DVD2AVI 1.77.3 d2v files.

Dialhot 03-29-2004 03:53 AM

1.76 or 1.77.3 is the same and avisyn2.5.5 read them with no problem.
(I have both on my PC and I use one or the other according to the link I use in my windows menu and I didn't even noticed that for 6 months !)

Problems are with DVD2AVI 1.83.

muaddib 04-06-2004 03:44 AM

I think that the recomended version for AVS2.5 should be DVD2AVIdg 1.0.0. It's based on DVD2AVI 1.77.3 but has a fix (made by neuron2) for the lots-frame-bug. It should be used with MPEG2DEC3dg (based on MPEG2Dec3 1.10) that was also fixed by neuron2 to solve the same bug.
You can get it and read about the bug here: http://neuron2.net/fixd2v/decodefix.html

incredible 04-06-2004 06:39 AM

Is that Lots-Frame-Bug an NTSC issue?? As I never got Problems when using just the 1.76 in combination with Avisynth 2.5x :?

muaddib 04-06-2004 12:19 PM

No. It's a DVD2AVI (and mpeg2dec) bug. It's not a big deal, but it's there. And if there is a fix, why not using it?
You can read about the bug at the link in the other post.

@jorel: I'm using that version since you posted it. thanks buddy.

@inc: I haven't noticed any bugs before either though...

bigggt 04-06-2004 07:38 PM

Just to be clear do we download Version 1.0.0 exacutables from the link muaddib gave and just use this program instead of dvd2avi 1.77.

Its called decoderfix100 so i just wanted to make sure that its the whole program(looks like it it) and not just a fix

Thanx

Dialhot 04-06-2004 07:54 PM

Actually, this release is a fix and so the package is called "decoderfix". But all is in there :-)

bigggt 04-06-2004 08:08 PM

Great thanx Phil :D

Hi jorel!
That's so not true!!
You are one of the most charismatic people that I ever met!
And I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one here that thinks this way! :D

I didn't saw that thread, but I'm using it flawlessly since I heard about the fix.
BTW, the next version of MovieStacker will be using MPEG2Dec3dg as the default decoder.

and for remove doubts about anamorphics, overscan, ...etc!

bigggt 04-07-2004 06:10 PM

HI guys, sorry to be the stupid one here all the time but :D

Do we take the MPEG2Dec3dg dll that came with this and put it inot the avisynth plugin folder :dark:

Dialhot 04-07-2004 06:31 PM

THANK YOU Bigggt to have exposed to everyone why this is a really bad idea to use the "dg" version as default !

Let me explain : anyone knows that the plugins are in waterenterprise and has already DLed the decoder from there. Now you arrive with the new "dg" and you no-one has advised you that :

-> if you forgot to REMOVE the former MPEg2Dec3 from you disc, things will be completly screwed up !

-> if your forgot to use the new DVD2AVIdg then you will have also a big mess.

That is why I already mentioned that this new release will only lead to a lot of questions and problems for all newbies lurking arround here. All that to fix a problem that NOONE has never experienced ! :-(

jorel 04-07-2004 08:17 PM

right Phil,
you have reason (again).....i saw " problems " posted..

Yes Phil, I didn't think about that. But...

Lets advise them. So they'll know what to do.

That's why I NEVER put anything inside the avisynth plugin dir.
I do have both decoders (more than that) and use the one I want with the "loadplugin" function.

I will pay attention.

Everything is a lot of questions and problems for newbies! 8O
Making KVCDs is a big problem for newbies... but they DO learn how to do it in the right way! Don't they?

Prodater64 04-08-2004 07:51 AM

Hi:
When I installed avisynth, I put all filters required for MA, V4, etc. scripts in avisynth 2.5 plugins directory. It results in a lot of stuff. Can somebody tell me for what is it usefull?

DVD2AVIdg.exe
DVD2AVI.vfp
DVD2AVI.ini
files.asm
files.cpp
files.h
files.inc
files.plg
files.rc
files.res

Thanks in advance.

And I second that too :!:
I always load the filters I need manually.

All of those are source files and resources for filters. You don't need any of those in the plugins directory.
