TMPGEnc: Project wizard Greyed out in KVCD temps?
 

I have never used the project wizard, but was interested in trying to see what size the finished file would be and how many discs would be required for a file I was going to encode.

If I go through the wizard screens and load one of the KVCD PAL templates, every time I reach the Bit Rate screen it is greyed out.

Is this normal for KVCD temps?

I loaded the standard svcd template that comes with 2.56 and it allows me to select the disc size etc.

Hi Al:

Yes, it's normal. The templates you refer to in the wizard are the SVCD templates included in TMPEG. They're 2-pass VBR, and that way you can closely estimate the final file size of the mpeg file. KVCD uses CQ encoding modes. With this mode, you can't calculate the final size of your encoding, but you can sustain a constant quality throughout the picture. That's the advantage of CQ encoding.
