Fast and quality?

Hi,

(Sorry for mi english, i'm spanish)

I don't know how to configure ympeg codec or it ins't better than TMPGEnc.
I've tested ympeg with the MA avisynth script (352x576) for 1 minute of the film '2 fast 2 fuorius' (trim function of avisynth for minute 20 to 21) and i've do the same with TMPGEnc CQ70 calculated with CQMatic with avg of 950Kbps.
I've saved the video with VirtualDub using YMPEG codec selecting:
MPEG1, PAL, KVCD, VBR Min:300000 avg:950000 Max:2300000 and Best quality, but the result is bad. The codification time is only a 5 secons minor than with TMPGEnc and then quality is worst, a lot of macroblocks.
Kwag say that the quality of this codec is better than TMPEG and CCE put all together. What is the problem? Why mi test is bad?

Thanks,

Bye!

Only on high bitrates, for making DVD material.

Don't check "KVCD" :!:
It doesn't work correctly :!:

Because you checked the "KVCD" option.

The problem is that YMPEG is a very ALPHA version ;)
It's not ready for prime time :!:

Hi,

( hi sasker! :) )

Do you mean that with ympeg, the kvcd quality is worst than with standard matrice?!

Yep :!:
If you select "KVCD", it looks worse than with the standard matrix.
Unless YMPEG does something else when you check that option, other than selecting the matrix :!:
I don't know because there's no documents yet, and not even a history on YMPEG changes :(

So where's Yusuf???

(I don't know if already a solution has been found refering to that the Ympeg codec is not shown at the codecs list in VirtualVCR. (As Virtual VCR seems to be supported as mentioned at his site).
So I wanted do test this codec to capture with.

making a kvcd or skvcd

Hi all,

This YMPEG is very promissing! I read this whole thread and read that KVCD is not working great yet.

I was wondering. What is the best way with YMPEG to convert my AVI movie to an (s)kvcd using YMPEG and VDUB and Calcumatic?

YMPEG now a commercial product, and integrates Notch matrix.

Another :ole: :D
The demo is fully functional, and MPEG-1 encoding is free, but MPEG-2 will only work for a limited time, unless you purchase the product.
Just thought people would like to know, that once again, this is another commercial product which integrates the KVCD "Notch" matrix :)
(Thanks (again!) Yusuf ;) )

Seeing as it is a commercial product using your matrix Karl will they pay you royalties like I think they should or do you just get credited for the KVCD matrix?

I already talked to Yusuf via E-Mail a long time ago, and everything is fine :)
Basically, it's credits to us, but we are the ones that authorize WHO can use it ;)
They still have to pay royalties to the MPEG-LA (for MPEG-2), and there's no way around that.
