KVCD 704X480 blockiness in fast action scenes?

Hi Everyone,

I am impressed with the KVCD new templates. Tried KVCD 704X480 to backup "Pitch Black" and loved the quality.
The beginning of this movie has some fast action scenes and there was some blockiness. Can anything be done to tweak Tmpgenc to reduce this effect. Otherwise the movie was very close to DVD quality. :D

The next challenge will be to backup a movie which three hours (i.e. The Green Mile) and have it fit on two cd's.

hi black prince:

If your DVD player supports higher bit rates that 2,300Kbps, the current MAX set on the KVCD templates, go ahead and increase it. You might have to do some test clips to find how high it can go. That's the only thing you would need to modify in the template to optimize very high speed scenes. But many DVD players don't go over 2,500Kbps and that's why I set the MAX to 2,300Kbps. But be aware that you'll cut down on the amount of video that you can put on the CD. Usually this "blocks" are barely visible on high speed scenes, unless you do a "pause" on high action scene. But on regular playback, they shouldn't be an issue.

hey,

You can definetely fit a 3 hour movie on 2 cds with the 352x480 template- I got "Pearl Harbor" on two cds :D

Thanks Kwag and rendalunit,

I'll try short clips right away. Pitch Black had plenty of room left for two cd's (1.3gb). :D

Will encode "Pearl Harbor" using 352X480, but will expect to suffer some quality. Thnx

The 352x480 PLUS is being tweaked, as I promised a couple of days ago. I'll be posting it later today.
