Why not skipping the first minutes of the movie?

Hi,

Last tests I did with CQMatic give me a too big file (810 Mb instead of 700 Mb for the video part). After looking at the samples, I saw that the first one was almost totally black: This is a Disney movie, and it begin like every Disney movie.
I tried to skip 100 frames, and the sample size grew 8%.

So, is it possible to let the user choose the starting point of the samples o skip the first (let say) 100 frames?

Thanks,

Fabrice

Hi Fabrice,

It's very simple :)
When you create your .avs, add a line like: trim(100,0)
That will cut off the first 100 frames of your source. Remember to give CQMatic the movie time minus the time (in minutes) you trim off!
When you get your CQ value, remove the trim line from your script, and encode your movie with the CQ found. This way, you can start prediction after the initial credits or any other point ;)
