when encoded to MPEG 1 with kvcd, the sound is jerky?

Hi all!

I have a divx movie (basic instinct), with a very unusual sound format, which cannot be displayed in properties. the sound works when i watch the avi file, but when encoded to MPEG 1 with kvcd, the sound is jerky. i tried to demux the file with Virtual Dub, but the output wave file can't be played. what can I do? any other programs to demux that file correctly?

P.S: BBMPEG crashed when i tried to demux the file...
