KVCD: 120 minute CD-R does not play?
I have had this problem for a while and asked for help before. I have an apex660AD, plays skvcd @ 480x480/576, 544x480/576 perfectly as long as they are not 1 min more than 120min. If so the movie will start in the middle of the film, I have tried to cut in 2 parts and burn onto same disc, (no good), this happens if it is DVD or AVI source, does not matter, I have same problem on other peoples players, I have been doing KVCD for 2 years now, when i ran into this problem before and could not get help i just split into 2 cdr's, but i want to get the whole thing on 1 disc, Oh, by the way mpeg1 does not work on my player at these resolutions.
any help or solutions please thanx Bombero |
What is "no good" in the solution of cutting the mpeg in two parts and burning them on the same disc ? That does not work either ? Or is there any other problem that occurs ?
(note : normally the limit in SVCD in 100 minutes. So you have 20 more than the standard allows :-)) |
by no good , i mean that when i cut it into 2 parts and try to burn it, it will not burn because it will not fit on one disc with nero or vcd easy. i dont know why, maybe because with each file it adds something, and i was already maxed out on size with the single file....
also understood that i already get an extra 20 min on svcd, but i hear tell that others here have done it with no problems and want to get in on the action.... :-) |

I do a lot of KVCD with 6 tracks each (6 TV show episodes) and the total is more or less the sum of all the track sizes. And this is the normal situation as you guessed :-) Quote:

I have the same problem with my DVD player and there are two ways for workaround.
1. Mux as non-standart VCD. 2. If the first option is not appropriate, when the movie start from the middle press on the remote "Go To" and type 00:00 - the movie will start from the beggining... |
I had the same problem :
I've solve the problem by creating the CD image as HQVCD. Code:
vcdimager -t hqvcd -l "My film" myfilm.mpg My dvd player tell me that it's CVD and starts at the beginning. HQVCD seems to be as VCD but with MPEG2 video stream. I've done successfully 2H46M video (manga) on 1 CD. 480x576(pal) does not work. (Perhaps 352x576 should work since it's in CVD specs) MCGLVR |

The standart isn't 100minutes. It's 120 min. |

See the warning in vcdeasy when you do a SVCD with more than 100 minute. |
Is there a site where I can find the specification of a SVCD?
Because I've some SVCD calculator tools and the timer goes till 120min and no more. |
svcd from tmpgenc wizard:
cbr or vbr standard format , 50 minutes for 650mb. vbr (out of standard), 110 minutes for 650mb. |
Ok one way but not official.

These are the official technical spec from Philips but I didn't see any time length limit.

121 mins with near full D1 resolution on 1 80min CD
I've done a high quality video with KVCD matrix.
MPEG2 VBR Stream Res: 704x576 :o Encode with mencoder (2pass) under Linux. Image with vcdimager as HQVCD. Burn with CDR DAO. When you play the video it's as good as DVD !! 8O |
