KVCD Plus is better than KDVD?
I have done several small clip tests in order to compare the quality with KVCD Plus, KDVD (both half and full D1), I found that KVCD Plus is still the best among the 3 templates. Is anyone sharing the same feeling?
How did those companies make DVDs (original ones)? Are they using million dollars worth hardware to encode those DVDs. Why can't we make KDVD with a quality just close to theirs. Kwag: do you find the same result (i.e. KVCD Plus is better than KDVD) in your HDTV? Is it the restriction in GOP (18 for NTSC) which cause KDVD is no better than KVCD Plus? |

But you must remember that TMPEG is a better MPEG-1 encoder than a MPEG-2 encoder. Still, MPEG-2's created with TMPEG are excelent. -kwag |
I share the same feeling too, but now I'm talking about KVCD Plus encoded as SVCD! 8O
Every sample I encoded I fell like KVCD Plus (with mpeg2 compression) is better than KDVD... I don't know, but I think that it would be the CQ vs VBR_CQ. In my opinion VBR_CQ is far better than CQ (even with mpeg2)! Well, at least with the samples I encoded (3 movies). I want to say that I just finished encoding Artificial Intelligence (145min), in 2 CDs. I am very, VERY happy with the quality it came out. I can’t tell the difference from the original DVD in a Sony 34”. Here are the settings: Start with KVCD Plus 704x480 Stream type: MPEG2 - SVCD (3:2 pulldown) Resolution Size: 480x480 Min. BitRate: 300 Max. BitRate: 2500 CQ_VBR quality: 20 Sound: 160kbps dual-channel BTW Kwag, I used 480x480 because I could noticed a better sharpness than with 352x480. Man, the quality was great! Thank you for the GREAT template, matrix and GOP!! :D :D :D :D |
