KVCD: Motion Prediction?
Hi Kwag - thanks for the 704x576 template. Amazing really! I Increased the Average bitrate to 3500 and got superb results fitting a 90min film on 2 CD's. I've spent loads of time playing with CVD and never really got sharp results like this.
One question though. In the template 'motion prediction' is set to Normal. With the exteded GOP etc in the template, how much of an effect does motion prediction have and is it better just leaving it at Normal. Jim |

I have tried all modes, and there is a little better "artifact" cleanup using "Motion estimate Fast". But the file size created is much larger than with the "Normal" setting. -kwag |
Kwag,
Something strange happened but it could be my dvd player. When i added sound to my kvcd (i know - i viewed the 1st results without sound!) very rarely the picture seems to stutter like its slowing down so things can catch up. Sometimes if i rewind and watch the same clip again it doesn't happen. This happens rarely. Could i have muxed the VCD wrongly with the sound. I produced the sound in TMpeg using the WAV extracted from DVD2AVI. I then muxed the sound and video together as a non VCD standard mpeg file . Could this be causing the problem or is my player (dansai 1010) just sometimes struggling with the vcd format. Jim |

I thought the samples had no audio  - will give them a try and see what happens.
By the way - when encoding at 704x568 is there really any need to use the avisynth temporal smoother? |

You only need to use the temporal filter, if your source is not too clean. But use it with a very low value, because high values will spoil your picture. -kwag |
