TMPGEnc: avs file can not open or unsupported

I've tried searching for an answer in the other posts but can't seem to find a solution. I have Avisynth 2.54 installed and my source is a .d2v file from a DVD rip.

If I use the mpeg2dec.dll plugin TMPGEnc reads the avs file but complains and shows the message "Plane Difference: Only planar images ( as YV12) supported!". If the mpeg2dec3.dll is loaded then it just says that it can not open or unsupported.

Any help would be appreciated. I uninstalled avisynth and removed all avisynth.dll before re-installing, no luck. I have also unticked all vfapi plugins in TMPGEnc except ReadAvs but still no go.Thanks in advance.

TO use YV12 colorspace (that is the one to use infact because its the original colorspace of the DVD), you must have a YV12 codec installed on your PC. Whatever the codec, it's not important.
Generally we prefer to install the Xvid codec for that.

Phil,

Thanks for the info. I've installed the XviD codec by Koepi and was able to load the avs file. It does however show marked graduations in scenes with light to dark background (I mean the subject shows layers of shades instead of graduated color ). Is this normal or do I have to adjust anything? I'm using the Optimal script with only the mpegsource and gripcrop entries changed. Thanks again for any help.

See if your desktop is configured in 32bits colors and not 24 or 16.
That"s perhaps just a display default.

Phil,

Adjusted my desktop to 32-bit as per your suggestion and it indeed removed the color graduations. Thanks for all the help. Cheers and more power to you and all the helpful guys in this forum!

i think my prioritys are ok?

do i just need to install Xvid then?

will AutoGK do it?

been making KVCDs for a while now and it just stopped working with this error.

i did a format and reinstalled everything fresh and its still did it!!!

maybe i corrupted xvid somehow then?

Install Xvid alone, not from any codec pack or other tool.

The only problem with codec pack or other tools if that the codec is installed but not always the configuration box. And absolutly you need it to deactivate all post preocessing that is done by the codec and to force it to output as YV12 ! Without that, you will face some problems very soon.

Do you have this config box availaible ?

KYUSS 05-20-2004 02:09 PM

no m8 it don't seem to have a config box.

what sort of problem would i be likely to encounter?

Need to add a "convertToYUY2()" line in your script for some sources for instance. It better to avoid that.

More : deringing and deblocking blur the picture and generally the scripts are optimized for picture taht are not deblocked/deringed yet (as my V4 script).

You must deactivate that from the codec... (it will affect only your Xviids cources, not the Divx one because in this case the Xvid codec is jusst used as a color convertor and not a decoder).
