Sound sync problems?

What program will help me with sound syncing problems on my mpeg1 file ( 2 sec delay with the sound )

mistermickster 02-11-2004 05:50 AM

Re-encode the audio with HeadAC3he, putting in your 2 sec delay (in milliseconds), in the delay box just below your source.

Tip.....Just encode about the first minute or so of audio with your delay and mux it with an equal length of the of the video. You may have to re-encode several times to get the delay bang on, so better to do it with a small clip than the whole audio track.

There's a appl. which only adds a delay to an existing ac3 stream.
Something like "AC3 dely corrector" ... "AC3 fixer" ... I don't know exactly now.

By this you don't need to reencode.
And btw. as I heared, DVDlab can also athor DVD-Rs with AC3 delay.

digitall.doc 02-11-2004 07:30 AM

Yep, you're all right.
But I guess the problem is how to stimate the length of the delay... and for this I just know the "manual" way: test some delay, mux, see if is in sync, if not try another delay... and so on. I'm afraid there's no tool that can help as with calculating the exact delay. I also have, from time to time, this problem. DVD2AVI gives a 0ms delay, but after muxing audio isn't in sync (both computer and TV) :(

Yes it does. You never used it ?

incredible 02-11-2004 07:56 AM

IF I do author a KDVD I always do reencode the AC3 to lower Kbits, ... so the delay can be automatically fixed by AC3machine. But to stuff more the audio data I think that was not his intention.

I personally do prefer DVD meastro and Apple DVDStudioPro, Because DVDlab (the version I got) only supports single VTS.

I look further and hope that DVDlab gets a simple update für multilingual audio (to get rid of that VOB input trick) and mutliple VTS.

;-)

I was wondering how was the quality of the result of this. Can you tell me ?

I have a 2 audio stream KDVD that is a little too big. As the stream are in 448, I can reduce them to 384.

Well it depends on the source material, if the sound is made very good, sometimes there's even no problem to go to 224kbit CH 5.1, but 256kbit would be a better choice  384 is never bad and enough.

Importing subtitles from the DVD is a pain in the ass. Do you yo that ? How ? I'm looking for a method not using bmp files !

Well I'm not that DVD Subtitle crack, maybe Vmesquita got some tips as we read very often his answers about Subtitle issues :)

Yes, and I had the problem last time with a 2-movie KDVD : after 1h to make the authoring and transition menus, I laucnched the "compile" and received a warning telling "it is not possible to mix 4:3 and 16:9 movie on a single VTS" :-( :banghead:

DVD Lab Pro has already multiple VTS support so I guess they never put it in normal version.

Shitty Shit!!!!!, Im sorry Phil, but I just "edited" your post instead of quoting it :!:

But at least I quoted your statements

So I do apologize!

Inc.

(but no matter as I still got some "credit" according to "editing"  )

BTW: Single VTS really sucks as it also only supports one single audioformat within the compiled DVD-R! So you have to decide mp2 or AC3

Do someone have 39.000$ for me ? I need Scenarist there :-)

incredible 02-11-2004 09:39 AM

Better: MAC G5 ( maybe 3000€) and Apple DVD Studio Pro (maybe 900€)

I worked once with Scenarist!
Alful userinterface (design & Colors, and complexitivity). Horrible but powerful.

But according to multiple VTS:

tmpgenc DVD author for example supports this

I dropped this one because it does not support 2 audio stream but... the DVD I had to do with wixed A/R had only 1 audio per movie ! I lost my time using DVD-lab for nothing :-)

Sorry Inc, but we're talking KVCD here, so I presume he's already encoded to MP2.
