KVCD: How to get wide screen with kvcd+ template?

I think I now have tried everything to get these movies to come out widescreen 16:9 including making the source 1:1 VGA, 4:3, and 16:9. Can someone help ?
Could it be my dvd player?(apex 1500ad)

adding template..

forgot to mention i'm using 352x 240 for one cd

Your original source is wide screen, right?.
You may want to look into FitCD, so that you process your movie with an .avs script, and the aspect will always be correct.

yeah its WS

I was encoding the beach last night, and could not get the widescreen to work. I put the dvd in my player and it was widescreen by default. I'll do a search for that program, any tips on using it?

Here's FitCD's site: http://mitglied.lycos.de/fitcd/
There you'll find the documentation and the program.

Hey bruceleroy,

So this means that your using one of the KVCD templates. The out put must be set to 4:3, you can set the incomming resolution to 16:9 but output must be set to 4:3.

It'll be widescreen, but you will be "encoding" black bars ....

bruceleroy 08-07-2002 04:17 PM

tried that=

tried setting the output to 16:9 with 1:1 VGA input=not widescreen
tried setting the output to 4:3 with 1:1 VGA input=not widescreen

noticed the video arrange method was on full screen, tried center (keep aspect ratio) with 1/1 in, 4:3 out, did not work

tried video arrange method with no margin keep aspect ration, did not work

tried v.a.m. with full screen keep aspect ration, that did not work

FINALLY have it with,
16:9 in, 4:3 out, video arrange is keep aspect ratio full screen!

Not sure why but the template has :
video arrange full screen, which was throwing me off!

All templates are set "Full Screen", so that the output aspect is always correct, when processed with AviSynth by a FitCD generated script.

if your using that resolution I would set the clip frame to either full screen (keep aspect ratio), is that doesn't make it wide screen change it from full screen (keep aspect ratio) then select Center (custom size) and set the resolution under the drop down menu to 352 X 200 see if that works.

BruceLeroy........

I might have the solution...give this a try..lol
just set the source to either 4:3 or 16:9 doesnt matter it appears in any cause..ok
Then video to either as well cause it don't seem to matter there really either..lol 4:3 I suggest though..ok
Then set res. to 480x480 and vbr to like 2300/550 and a 21 cq and see whatcha get. I know with my dvd player it makes it look sorta widescreen looking. But I have a 4:3 t.v. so who knows. :? Let us know if this works at all.

also bruce.......

try this one. :)
352x480 4:3 and 4:3 source, if that don't work
352x480 16:9 pal and 4:3 source this really seems to make it a widescreen effect.
Let us know if any of this works. :)

the fix was...

the video arrange method was set at full screen or something, I changed it to center/keep asp. ratio and with the source 16:9 and output 4:3 it works fine now. the template came with the vid. arrange method better suited for full screen.
