Audio stuttering/skipping problem on my KVCD?
Alright, I have a file that I converted to MPEG-1 using a template my friend gave me. I believe he just changed the original KVCD template to include audio in the conversion from .avi to .mpeg. Apparentely all of the KVCDs he has made have worked on his DVD players.
So that brings us to my problem. I own a Pioneer DV-341 DVD player. I can play regular VCDs no problem, but when I try to play one he has made, or the one I made, with his altered KVCD template, I get audio skips. The video is perfect, but the audio skips. I've searched around the forum and have heard that the Pioneer DVD players sometimes have problems with the bitrate(I hear most of them have to be over 650 or 700). However, this particular template is using a 1800 bitrate. So, I took my file and cut a 30 sec. clip from it, to create a sample. All I did was change the bitrate around. These were the bitrates I tried - 1000, 1800(just for comparison), 2500, and 3500. The really strange part, is that all of them worked just fine, no skips(well, the 3500 had video skips, but then again, I was kinda expecting that with the bitrate so high, but I just wanted to check). However, the full VCD has audio skips, yet, the sample(from the same file), doesn't skip at all. I don't get it. Here are some of the settings in the template - Video - 352 x 240 resolution 1800 bitrate 23.976fps converts to MPEG-1 Crap, I'm not on that computer at the moment and I don't remember the rest for the video, if you want more info, I can give it to ya later today. Audio - 128 bitrate 44k audio Dual Channel Oh, I'm using TMPEGenc Plus to convert to mpeg, and using Nero to burn the VCD itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I want to fit 120min. to a 80min CD-R, but having these skips is very annoying. |

Okay, thanks for your help.
Damn, that really sucks that I'll have problems with putting 120 min. on a single cd. *tear* Hopefully I can tweak something. You said that I was speaking about max bitrate. Okay then, how do I change the min. bitrate? If worst comes to worst, I guess I could always go back to regular VCD... :( |

Really? I didn't see it, but then again, I wasn't really looking for it. :?
Cool. Thanks for your help man. :) |
Oops, I now realize I was doing "constant" bitrate, that's why I didn't see the minimum setting. Doh. *kicks own ass*

Well, I have another problem that relates to my DVD player stuttering the audio.
My friend has given me some anime episodes, but he encoded them using KVCD, so the audio stutters on my DVD player, just like it did before. So, I was wondering if there was any way that I could put the MPEG-1 on my computer, and fix the problem via another encode or something. I'm guessing that it's not possible, but I figured if it was, you guys would know how to do it. |

By the way, if you want to have the file on your disc and didn't manage to make it by yourself, I wonder that it is because the KVCD are burnt as VCD. Aren't they ? If yes, you have to use VCDGear or VCDEasy to retrieve them on your PC as regular MPEG1 file taht you will be abble to process (make a search on the forum with "VCD and KVCD" as pattern, or perhaps "MPEG1 and KVCD"). There are a lot of threads about this recently. |
I don't think you understood my problem, sorry for not explaining it better.
The anime eps he have me are on a KVCD. They work fine on my DVD player EXCEPT for the audio stuttering. I know I can put the file onto my computer, from the KVCD he gave me, but the audio problem will still be there because of the higher bitrate my DVD player uses. Is there any possible way to change the video bitrate without encoding the original .avi(cause he no longer has them)? This isn't a huge concern, as I can always just download the episodes again(unlicenced anime called Scrapped Princess). |

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure.
