CCE and DVD Compliance Problems

I have been using the KDVD template for CCE and for some reason none of the MPG outputted files are DVD compliant. I do of course join audio to it.

As some of you may recall yesterday I posted on here with template problems, but that got sorted thanks to help. But now I am being told by all my DVD authoring software that the files are not in DVD ready format, even though they are in the right resolution. KDVDs via the TMPGEnc templates work fine, but the CCE one doesn't seem to work for me.

Any idea what the most likely reason is ?

Look at there the post of Jorel at 12:39 pm in this thread :

Perhaps it will help. But it is NOT normal to have this error. I never had !
What exactly is the problem reported ? Some tools give a detailed reason for the error, do you have some details to give ?

Well, none of my usual authoring software gave any idea of the problem, just that it had to re-encode the video to make it compliant. That software is DVD Architect and Ulead Movie Factory 3.

Then after reading your post I thought I should give DVD Author a go. The error message I get with that is I can't use a 23.976fps mpg file.

I will keep fiddling around to see if can sort it.

That is normal so. You must do a pulldown on the file to convert them in 29.97 (no need to reencode, don't worry !)

I know you are probably expecting this, but, how do I do a pulldown ? haha. Sorry for being so dumb.

:-)

DL Dopulldown.exe there :

(Note: if I remember well, to actually applying a pulldown on a movie I had to check the box "nopulldown" in the GUI. I'm not sure. Try both).

Guess what ? I got errors again, haha, I don't think I am meant to be able to do this, some sort of god must be trying to stop me getting this to work.

I downloaded the Pulldown software and tried EVERY combination but it kept saying "Processing finished with errors", no mention of what the errors were though.

Oh and I tried a different file as well and got the exact same error as the other guy on this forum (within TMPG Author), GOPs were too high for DVD. Not only that but I got the usual 23fps error too.

You don't by any chance have a different ready made CCE KDVD script that automatically does the Pulldown within CCE ? I know there is a "enable Pulldown detection" option within CCE, but when I click it I am baffled by what I see. There is an option also within CCE that says "DVD Complian" I am not sure if that is bad English for Compliant, but should that be ticked ? It isn't by default, in fact I think I may have tried that already to be honest (I am thinking out loud here, haha).

I would love to get KDVD CCE to work as I do 10s of KDVDs a week with TMPG and it takes ages. I will not give up just yet, haha.

yes Jon Read, here is the same:

"EVERY combination but it kept saying "Processing finished with errors", no mention of what the errors were though."

TMPGEnc DVD Author will give you a GOP warning/error, igore it.

Your source should be a MPEG2 file (M2V or MPV).

When doing the pulldown with the GUI, select the source and destination file names (without any spaces, remove them prior to running the GUI). I usually add 'pd' to the end of the file name (not the extension) for the destination so that I know it's the pulled-down version later. No other options set.

You should see a command line that shows pulldown.exe [source] [destination] with no other switches. Hit the GO button and watch the screen. It should say it's doing 2:3 pulldown and count through the GOP's and frames. When done, this pulled down files should go into TMPGEnc's DVD Author and only warn you about the GOP size.

Hope this helps.

I had that also. That's clearly a bug in the software that always returns that there is a problem even if there is not.

So just discard this error message and test your video. You will see quicly if there is a problem or not.
