make the bitrate higher in KVCD templates?

I asked myself... does anybody here tried to make the bitrate higher in KVCD templates but is still able to fit 120 minutes. If yes, what were your bitrates setting...

Thanks,
Nico

I honestly don't believe the whole 120mins on on 80min cd, I have a 79 min film and used the KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-(PAL)-PLUS template and only altered the colour correction to improve the quality of the picture, so I encoded it thinking it would easily fit on one 80min cd I was wrong. I opened nero unchecked the compliant boxes and draged the file over to the vcd box and the time line went upto the 99min mark, so its a big lie.

Sure it is andybno1... KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-(PAL)-PLUS fits 60 minutes per CD, if you look at the download page you will notice that.
If you want 120 minutes per CD, try the KVCD-CQ-352x288-(PAL)-PLUS.

I've got over 90 minutes on one cd with the 704x576 templates the older version of the template that is. Did childs play 4 Bride of Chucky, got a file of 695 meg and to be honest I could not tell the diffrence between the dvd and the Kwag template.
As for two hours, well I've only managed to put 125 minutes on a cd, though iit was with the 352x288 templates, backed up my jap anime Divx files, so you can get 2hrs (and over sometimes) on a single cd.
The only time I've had a problem with the file sizes is when the source is 4:3 fullscreen, but then again this is only my experience with the templates.

ah right I thought that all the templates where 120 mins per disc, my mistake. Is it poss to get the 352X288 templates to be more clearer as I noticed that the picture is a bit blured.

Well, I think that's the price you pay for more minutes per CD... :?
If you want more quality go for 2 CDs and use the 352x480 or better 704x480.
The 704x480-PLUS quality is amazing, and I think that it's worthy the price (2CDs)
You can play with the settings of the 352x480 to make it fit 120min, but, like a wise man told me one day (hi kwag! ), you can not do magic...

I not after 120mins on one cd I want to fit 79mins 46secs on one cd, but if I change the bitrate to 1150 which lets it know that its 79mins 46secs but the quality drops. I ain't the best person who knows about the tech specs for tmpgenc as I am a complete "dummys guide to" type of person for tmpgenc settings.

120 minutes templates

what source?

it all(most) depends on the source.

A Divx file maybe even more difficult to
encode than the original plain DVD source.
Your encoder has got no chance to decide
what's artefact of the source signal that
might be ignored or what signal was
intended to be a part of the movie.
So additional artifacts could require
more bandwidth to encode.

But it could also be the other way around:
if the DVD signal is softened by encoding
filters a DivX source might require less
bandwidth because of a less complex
signal.

It's hard to predict the required bandwidth
when predefining pic quality.

A movie with just a few motion and low
complex scenery might easily fit 120 min
of 352x288 25 fps VBR onto 1 80min CD.
Best compression will be on "midage"
cartoons where you've got large areas of
identical colour without texture.

So it is really possible but you can't expect
that for any given signal source.

(but this was probably reported here b4 ?)

obrigado

the source is vob files. The film is The Animal

I didnīt believe a 120min Movie could be fitted onto 1 CD until I tried "The Matrix" (PAL 25fps, 131min). I used the KVCD-CQ 1CD Template (352x576). The result was so small, that I had space left to rise the Audio to 160kbps... The Quality is good -> very good... The Source was DVD....

It is possible to put a 120min to CD but it all depends on the source... Like Matrix is a very dark movie with lots of black.... Very compressable...

how could I improve the quality of the 352 288 pal template? as it does produce a encoded video which is a bit blured.

The 352x240(288) will produce the same or slightly more quality than a standard VCD ( but no less  ). That's what that resolution will give you. You can try using "Sharpen" filters, and that will enhance the image a little.

I have tried using the sharpen edge filter but I don't notice any difference

I thought I would throw my two cents worth into this discussion (even though it probably belongs in the 120 forum) and let you know that I am in the process of making two backup copies of the 2 hour and 2 minute dvd "From Hell." The first copy was made using the KVCDx2 1-CD template, the final result was 575 MB. The second copy was KVCDx2 1-CD with the CQ 54 (instead of 50) is in the process of being encoded at 73% it is only at 469 MB. The quality is superb and it is possible to get 120+ minutes on one 80 MB cd-r even using 704x480 resolution.

Raynaldo :)

Thanks Kwag
