Did you use the standard settings for cq etc.?

That movie is 96 minutes long. Used the template with default values. The video size came out to 663,112KB. So that's why I encoded the audio at 192Kbps. At 224Kbps, it would have been just a little too big. :D

Note: Forgot to add that I used FitCD 1.0.5, and "Blocks TV-overscan" set to "1", as suggested by shh.

that s why I asked for the resized active window:
imagine you d keep an aspect ratio of 2.35 (common for cinema movies)
then you d get only about 320x240 active pixels at 1/2D. In this case it d be
no challenge to encode up to 216000 frames (120min) onto 1 CD80.

It all depends on the active window and the complexity of the source
signal.

Not exactly! Here's the AviSynth script I used for that movie:

LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\MPEG2DEC.dll")
mpeg2source("K:\THE_TIME_MACHINE\VIDEO_TS\time.d2v ")
BilinearResize(336,336,0,0,720,480)
#TemporalSmoother(2,2)
AddBorders(8,72,8,72)

?!?!?!?!?!?!
What am I doing wrong Kawq???
I used FitCD...ended up with slight but annoying solarization (that did not happen with Blade 2)
I tried the template you used...blockiness city
Tried KVCDx3...blockiness city
Finally had to deinterlace & noise reduction (at heavy settings), plus clip frame!!!
I don't know dude, I am encoding the same sample you gave on your website...

If ya don't mind:
What are your specs (comp)
What are the versions your using for DVD2AVI + FitCD+Tmpgenc
arrrrrghhhhhh..WHAT AM I DOING WRONG <sob, sob, sigh>?!?!?

Rig R. Mortis 09-28-2002 08:00 AM

stupidity prevails...
wrong fitcd settings--I used what you posted to correct my error
poor deinterlace setting--was causing severe problems

<note to self: do not attempt encoding while multitasking or sleepy>
I redid the same clip you posted for the KVCD X3...using the KVCD2 plus @ 29.97...IT LOOKS GREAT!

This DVD seems to jump from interlaced to progressive...must be an attempt at copyright protection...sheesh, can't even backup DVDs that you paid good money for!!! What is this worls coming to??? Soon everything will be a Pay-Per-View format. CDs, DVDs, The Net...greedy greedy greedy

u da man Kawq
