SVCD because it is MPEG 2. VCD is MPEG 1 only.

I don't see any problem to mux mpeg2 as VCD.

It can cause compatibility problems.

The way I see it 352x288 MPEG-2 muxed as SVCD is also not within standards, and can therefor cause compatibility problems too...
I'll just have to try it out ! :wink:

But at least it is correct MPEG version. MPEG 1 decoders can't handle MPEG2 but MPEG2 decoders normally handle MPEG1. If you'll do 480*576 SVCD, it will be completely standards compliant.

I encoded a mpeg2 352x288 file, muxed as SKVCD, and plays very well (JVC-NV55).

@vmesquita,

Please make the following changes:
If encoding MPEG-2 at 352x240(288), change the VBV size to 56(112KB).
Use 20(40KB) **ONLY** on 352x240(288) MPEG-1.
This should fix many issues.
