Hi: You must to rename your bigvob.d2v to bigvob.vob. Then use it as input for mencoder. Don't need avs script, load it in MencodeMe and choice combo DVD. Select all others settings (movie time: Take it from DVD Decrypter), and press encode.

Well, this message is often viewed with mencoder, but it seems that final encode will play fine in your PC as in your standalone.
It will be helpfull that you encode the movie and later tell us your experience.

All my AVIS to SKVCD convertions uses Dialhot V4 script, with DCTFilter line active, of course. And I give this avs to mencoder as usual MakeAvis way.
Whats your problem Koekies?

incredible 06-11-2004 08:16 AM

Watch out when using DCTfilter!!!
At 352x288(240) target resolution its a NO-GO! As it will soften the encoding significantly. Also at 352x576(480) it blurs too much.
Some users reported a "horizontal lines"-Problem even at 480x576(480), so u should test before ... I never had problems when using it on 480x576 targets, but for shure I did not use any blurring before like i.E. MergeLuma(blur()) etc.

Koekies 06-11-2004 11:06 AM

I allways encode 704x480. makeavis says

Evaluate: Unrecognized exception!
(ffvfw_avisynth_script, line 15)

and the script is

Code:

LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\MPEG2Dec3dg.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\Undot.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\Convolution3DYV12.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\GripFit_YV12.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\BlockBuster.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\utils\MovieStacker\Filters\DctFilter.dll")

AviSource("C:\movies\Timeline\test.avi", false)
BlindPP(cpu=4)
BlockBuster(method="noise", detail_min=1, detail_max=3, variance=0.1, seed=1)
Convolution3D(1, 6, 12, 6, 8, 2.8, 0)
LanczosResize(672, 334, 4, 0, 568, 240)
Undot()
TemporalSoften(2,7,7,3,2)
DctFilter(1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0.5, 0)
AddBorders(16, 73, 16, 73)

Line 15 is the DctFilter

incredible 06-11-2004 11:14 AM

You found another filter which is not supported by Makeavis ;-)

till now we know:

- GripFit
- DCTFilter

Prodater64 06-11-2004 11:18 AM

A cup of questions?
1 - Does your script play fine in mplayer2 or virtual dub, without error messages?
2 - Do you perform in MakeAvis any color space conversion?

Well I copied the script in notepad. Used moviestacker to get the right values for lanczos and add borders.
Tmpegenc can use the script and when i load it in makeavis it gives that error.
Which version do you use?

No, you don't. I asked just in case.
I had seen that kind of error only with gripcrop, gripsize and gripborders, that are not supported by MakeAvis. Maybe your version is not the mentioned above. If it is the case, please uninstall previous version and install quoted version.

VirtualDubMod gives this error when loading the script:

Avisynth open failure:
Sorry, DctFilter test version needs sizes multiples of 16x16

The source is 568, 240
568/16=35,5
Is this why it doesn't work?
Do I have to resize my avi now to get it to work :(

Prodater64 06-11-2004 12:42 PM

Just try to load your source in avs with directshowsource() and tell me what happends.
Also be sure that your working color space is yv12 (if you play your avs script in mplayer2 or other player without problem, your color space is ok).

Edited: Ohh, I think I get it. Once I saw this error with "MPEG2Dec3dg.dll". Just try 1.76. (but i don't know why your get an error in dct line)

I don't have enough time to reply you. You reply me too quick. :D

Just put a line addborders as:
Code:

AviSource("C:\movies\Timeline\test.avi", false)
Addborders(0,0,8,0)

But i think that you need to give to moviestacker new values handly (576*240). Moviestacker will give you correct values for Lanczos line.

There is NO relationship to the size of any VOB :!:
It's a matter of the "Runtime" of the movie

oxycotton420 06-15-2004 07:16 PM

ahh i see kwag, u mean like how long the movie is well its 87 minutes i mean it should'nt take that long, i did a 106 minutes movie at it took couple of hours now i am doing an 87 minute movie and its taking forever it took 4 hours and it aint even through pass 1 and i'm also using the null code for the 1st pass

You can:
1 - Rip your DVD video in one big VOB, and one big ac3. Sometimes you need NTFS HD partition for this (VOBs bigger than 4GB). Then load your VOB in MencodeMe and encode. Finally you will get a m2v for to mux with your ac3 (or mp2 obtained from ac3). Or give both without mux to your authoring DVD software.
2 - Rip your DVD in several VOBs and one big ac3. With VOBs you can create a fake VOB with DVD2AVI and give it to MencodeMe through avisynth. Finally you will get a m2v for to mux with your ac3 (or mp2 obtained from ac3). Or give both without mux to your authoring DVD software.
3 - Rip your DVD in several VOBs and one big ac3. You can serve VOBs to MencodeMe separately, and later to join m2v's obtained. Finally you will get a m2v for to mux with your ac3 (or mp2 obtained from ac3). Or give both without mux to your authoring DVD software.
4 - Same previous but getting audio in several ac3's. Not recommended.

Hi pro,
haven't replied in the kvcd.net forum for quite a while. Just tried the new tmpgenc and kwag's great new cqmatic :).
I was wondering how things are going on with mplayer I see the forum is still closed :(
are there any new things improved like quality speed any good filter chains?

kwag 01-02-2005 09:27 AM

Hi Koekies,

This forum, MencodeME will eventually be deleted, as it is no longer supported and has already been superceeded by NuEnc and other avcodec based encoders. I will now lock this forum and move it to the same place where ToK and acp stand.
As for Mplayer/Mencoder, they are still very buggy, specially Mencoder which is also an avcodec based front end.
