QuEnc 0.51 Invalid Gop in Tmpenc Dvd Author
I've recently been using QuEnc 0.51 because the codec is just so sexy. It put an end to all kdvd predictions in my book. Anyway, when I try to add the m2v files created with it to Tmpenc Dvd Author 1.5.19.59, I get an error about invalid Gops...this error specifically:
"*The video GOP is too long. The video GOP is too long. For a standard DVD it is necessary that the GOP fulfill the following condition: Max 36 fields (18 frames) (NTSC format only) Max 30 fields (15 frames) (PAL format only)" I get that error using Gop 18 while encoding in QuEnc. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I've tried every combination of settings in QuEnc to try and get it to work, but no matter what I get that error in Tmpenc Author. Does anyone know if this is a Tmgenc error, or its actually using a bigger Gop then the one I set? Here are my QuEnc Settings: Main Settings [X] MPEG-2 Bitrate (kbps) (Use CalcuMatic to get the correct average bitrate) [X] Use VBR [X] High Quality [ ] Use Trellis [X] 2 Pass Encoding Advanced Options [X] Use KVCD "Notch" Matrix [ ] "Extreme & Slow" Settings GOP Size=18 [ ] Interlaced Encoding DC Precision = 8 [ ] Force Closed GOP [ ] Scene Detection [ ] Auto Max Bitrate Max Bitrate (kbps) = 8000 Aspect Ratio = 4:3 I'd appreciate any help. Kwag, boricua loco, great site. :) |

Drag your encoded .m2v into Bitrate viewer, and click on "GOP". Check that you don't see any numbers above 18. -kwag |

I downloaded the shareware version of Bitrate viewer but the Gop view is disabled, is there another tool I could use to see the Gops?

Re: QuEnc 0.51 Invalid Gop in Tmpenc Dvd Author
Kwag, Its looked through 14,000 frames so far and all the gops seem to be 18 or lower, so I don't understand the problem. Should I wait for all the frames to be looked through? Seems like it might take a few hours? Could it be the 3:2 pulldown thats causing a problem? Is there anyway to encode the video in 29.97 fps using QuEnc and avisynth?

Simply encode at 23.976, and then run the program pulldown.exe against your encoded.m2v. Then it should be accepted by DVD authoring programms. -kwag |
Re: QuEnc 0.51 Invalid Gop in Tmpenc Dvd Author
Kwag, I did run the m2v through pulldown.exe before trying to add it into the Authoring program.. without it won't accept the file at all because its out of standard. It accepts the file if I press ignore to the GOP warning, but then it'll burn a non-standard file, and I don't want that. I've never had any such problems with any other encoder. Usually tmpenc dvd Author accepts anything created with tmpenc without errors or warnings.
