What is the mpeg-2 KVCD format?

OK i have been hearing this a lot lately and just assumed it was KSVCD,but now i don't know

Can someone tell me how to do this and what it is

I thought it was just choosing mpeg2 in MEncodeME(or whatever) and muxing as svcd but doesn't that make it a ksvcd

With the ""KVCD "Notch" matrix"", of course :!:

Yes that's it :!:
With a target of 352x480(576) or 480x480(576)

Hi:
If you are encoding mpeg2, and you multiplex it and burn it as SVCD, you will be making a SKVCD (no standard, of course). In case that you encode a mpeg1 and multiplex it as VCD but burn it as SVCD (no standard), you will be making a KVCD, but standalones will take it as SVCD. If you encode a mpeg1 and multiplex it as SVCD and burn it as SVCD (no standard), also you will be making a KVCD, but standalones will take it as SVCD.

Of Course

Thanx Prodater64 for the explanation

BUT :!: if you encode at 480x480(576) MPEG-2 with KVCD's Notch matrix, your SKVCD file WILL be standard SVCD once burned as SVCD ;)
So it will play on every SVCD capable player :)

This one won't play. Mux as VCD and burn as SVCD or mux as SVCD and burn as VCD are no-no.

Dou you try it? As I know it could work. It depends of standalone (IMHO).

Several times, by mistake. Muxing as svcd in bbmpeg, but didn't recognise that in VCDEasy vcd is checked - standalone report "Play" on the screen, but there is no video nor audio. The opposite (VCD mux - SVCD authoring) gave the same result - again by mistake. :) . Now I don't remember if it was played with PowerDVD.
