Hi Otto,

Don't worry. I've had it with this provider
kvcd.net is being transfered to another provider as we speak.
I'm currently uploading the full site to the new provider, and I'll be closing the forum later so I can backup the database.
I don't have a time schedule yet, but I don't think it will be tonight.
But tomorrow, for sure I'll lock the forum so I can backup the database, and upload it to the new provider.
Stay tuned at www.kvcd.net for the latest news, if you see that the forum crashes again.
It's been 3 days in hell, since we moved to this provider

hey,the "worrycame" still too big!

Yes, that happens because the domain name KVCD.Net is still not set as the host name for the machine. It's a "cookies" issue.
I still have a hard link to 209.63.57.146
Hopefully, late tonight I can make the final change, and then when you read a post, it will change color

BTW, the server where KVCD.Net is now hosted, is a FOUR P4 processor machine
So it Kicks A**

Hi Karl,
Damn , good luck with this one, too.
Seems like it's headed straight to Jamaica right?
Hopefully, just a little rain again
Cheers

Frances caused between 5 to 16 billion dollars to Florida now, mostly flooding.
5 million people have lost their homes and flooding has destroyed
buildings like hospitals, schools, business, etc. and 10 people died.
With Ivan coming so soon behind Frances, the destruction will cause more
lives.

Those are indeed very sad figures you gave us BP
But the saddest thing was the lost of 10 lives.
Hopefully this won't happen with Ivan.
Good luck and get shelter.
Cheers

Kwag,

did Ivan miss you on the low side? Looks like this will be a bad one for anything that gets in its path,

Colin.

Hi rhino,

Ivan passed WAY south of us. About ~500 miles, so we didn't feel anything.
That monster looks like it's headed towards Jamaica, and then who knows where

Our neighbour is from Jamaica and so most of her family is still there. Worrying times for her,

Thanks rhino

This season is really wild
By tomorrow, we'll know for sure if it will go right over us.
But looking at the projected track, it seems it will.
Even if it's a tropical storm with winds at ~40Mph, it will still bring a lot of rain, and that's not very good.
If wind forecasts by tomorrow are in the range of 50+ miles per hour, then I'll have to climb on the roof and take down my satellite dishes

Well, seems we're about to get hit in the next 8 hours or so, and that means no power once the wind blows away power lines (hopefully not!), and of course, no internet connection either

See'ya later

Thanks Otto

Everything is too quiet here
The damn storm slowed down to 8MPH, and that's BAD
That's bad because it could increase to hurricane strength by tomorrow, and that makes things worse.
Already it's bad enough as it is, because the forecast is that it will be about 12 hours of tropical storm winds ( at least ~50+ MPH ) over us, and that means MANY inches of rain, on top of the nasty winds.
We are supposed to start feeling the effects in the early morning hours.

Hey Otto, maybe you'd like to come down here now, so you can do some surfing (real surfing, not web surfing )

Take a look at the tide info (in bold)

COASTAL FLOOD WATCH NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR 850 PM AST TUE SEP 14 2004

... THE COASTAL FLOOD WATCH ISSUED EARLIER NOW INCLUDES A HIGH SURF ADVISORY AND IS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL COASTLINES OF PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS... EFFECTIVE THROUGH 10 AM THURSDAY MORNING...

... A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS...

SWELL AND INCREASING WAVES ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM JEANNE WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT THE COASTS OF THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS... VIEQUES AND CULEBRA TONIGHT AND PUERTO RICO IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS WEDNESDAY. AS JEANNE CONTINUES TO APPROACH AND PASS OVER THE LOCAL COASTAL WATERS... 12 FOOT SEAS ARE EXPECTED OVER A 50 NAUTICAL MILE RADIUS IN ALL QUADRANTS SURROUNDING THE STORM. ELSEWHERE... SEAS FROM 8 TO 10 FEET ARE POSSIBLE AS A RAPIDLY CHANGING WIND FIELD ASSOCIATED WITH THE TROPICAL STORM PASSES OVER THE LOCAL WATERS. AS A RESULT... LARGE BREAKING WAVES RANGING FROM 10 TO 15 FEET... OR HIGHER... ARE POSSIBLE ALONG LOCAL BEACHES AND REEFS. ON TOP OF THESE CONDITIONS ASTRONOMICAL TIDES NEAR EASTERN PUERTO RICO WILL BE NEAR THE HIGHEST VALUES OF THE MONTH.

THE BREAKING WAVES WILL GENERATE STRONG AND DANGEROUS CURRENTS WITHIN THE SURF ZONE... CALLED RIP CURRENTS. THESE NARROW OUTWARD FLOWING CURRENTS CAN CARRY PEOPLE AND ANIMALS AWAY FROM THE COAST LINE AND OUT TO SEA. IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT... DO NOT PANIC. CALMLY... REMAIN AFLOAT... GATHER YOUR BEARINGS RELATIVE TO THE BEACH... AND SWIM PARALLEL TO THE BEACH. YOU WILL EVENTUALLY LEAVE THE GRIP OF THIS NARROW CURRENT... AND BE ABLE TO SAFELY SWIM TO SHORE.

LOCAL BEACH GOERS... AND INEXPERIENCED SURFERS AND SWIMMERS ARE URGED TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER UNTIL THESE HAZARDOUS SURF CONDITIONS SUBSIDE. PERSONS ON THE BEACH SHOULD BE VIGILANT FOR LARGE BREAKING WAVES SURGING UPON THE SHORE... WHICH CAN CARRY PEOPLE OF ALL SIZES INTO THE OCEAN. YOU SHOULD AVOID BEING NEAR THE SHORE LINE AND STAY OFF OF ROCK FORMATIONS.

THESE SURGING WAVES WILL CREATE THE MOST POTENTIAL FOR COASTAL FLOODING AND BEACH EROSION DURING TIMES OF HIGH TIDE.

THE TIMES AND HEIGHTS OF THE HIGH TIDE FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS ARE:

PLAYA FAJARDO IN PUERTO RICO 1.6 FEET 913 AM AST WEDNESDAY 1.6 FEET 927 PM AST WEDNESDAY LIME TREEE BAY IN ST. CROIX 0.7 FEET 711 AM AST WEDNESDAY MORNING 0.7 FEET 826 PM AST WEDNESDAY

MEGANS BAY IN ST. THOMAS 1.2 FEET 848 AM AST WEDNESDAY 1.4 FEET 858 PM AST WEDNESDAY

PERSONS IN THE LOWEST AREAS ALONG THE COAST SHOULD PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE HIGHER WATER LEVELS NOW WHILE CONDITIONS ARE STILL FAVORABLE.

STAY TUNED FOR ADDITIONAL STATEMENTS... WATCHES OR WARNINGS FROM YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE IN SAN JUAN.
